After reviewing their application and conferring with LynnCarius, we have decided to promote them to moderator. Welcome to the team!
He is a good dude and veteran speedrunner! Welcome to the crew!
Now that I have finally resolved the matter of correspondence and have become the sole mod, I plan to finally iron out a set of rules for each category that is clear, concise and descriptive. No current runs will be removed however all future runs will be subject to the pending rules. Thank you all for your patience!
At last report I saw the speedrun submitted by Moliman was delegated to you, but it seems that you have since delegated the review to me. I have messaged Moliman with a few questions I have about the speedrun, most notably the lack of a timer and frame counter, which I know you prefer and which is why I delegated review and approval of the run to you in the first place.
Once I have gotten a response from Moliman, I had hoped to correspond with you on where we stand in regards to acceptable speedrun submissions for the leaderboard, but it seems that you have me blocked and I cannot message you. This is not unity that is becoming of speedrun moderators and is causing issues once again, just like it did with the big 20 last year.
In all honesty and integrity, what the hell is your problem dude? I have reported you to the administration here before due to your dissonance with speedrunners here, and in my honest opinion, your lack of being professional and downright rude behavior, which is reflected in our message board here.
Even if you set all the debug cheat options to OFF, if the memory option is not set to "CLR", and the debug cheats have already been enabled on the cart previously, the save battery remembers that and the cheats will still be active. One way to confirm this is if your RCI meters stay at max demand and never change, this affirms that the Valve Max debug cheat option is enabled. The debug code menu will only display the memory option to "SET" when the code has been entered and enabled previously.
600K Population speedrun category does NOT allow for the debug code to be used in any form.

The Konami Code for extra ships is allowed!
50k Points can usually be achieved before the stage 2 boss fight.
5000 Point scoring "Hotspots", could be useful in routing and saving time:

Puwexil just informed me there are runs on the japanese version which finish around 2:30 for the glitchless no manipulation category. The route is 1 Beast 1 Robot. I hope to find more information on this soon. If I find speedruns that are legit after a review and comparison, a new category will be created for the differing national versions of the game and those runs will be added to the corresponding categories.
All the new strats that Intovariance and myself have devised are now included! Enjoy!

It seems that you can win the Dahak battle very quickly! From what I can tell here there was an HP underflow that instantly ended the fight after Dahak used swallow. Not sure how this works yet but I have some ideas, Blitz might be related.
So I figured out what happened here I think. As far as I can tell, no one else has made this discovery yet.
During a recent stream, I was experimenting with meat drops in FF Legend III speedrunning. I did not get the monster I wanted at first, so I went to the talon to use the flushex. This is supposed to change monsters and beasts to humans, but it turns out, that if you are a monster class, it might turn you into a beast instead of a human first! I have to do some more testing, but the important part of this is, once you have the flushex, you may be able to save a ton of time and RNG by using it to transform into the ideal beast evolution for the speedrun, which is Air type.
This opens up several more possibilities and increases your chances for a successful run. Something this game is known for being absolutely brutal for is the RNG and requires it in many pivotal points of the speedrun.
Here is the clip of it happening, and the monster/beast chart which shows that the Air type monster, Griffon, became the Air type beast, Sylph, which can be found here: http://shrines.rpgclassics.com/gb/ffl3/transform.shtml
One minor improvement I have found is to buy a Samurai Glove in Cirrus if you have enough gold. This can prevent the Succubus monster from being stone gassed at Agron, which is quite helpful. Open to any additional suggestions!
Per the request of runners here, Easy and Easy Co Op categories have been added. All the current runs have vanished. Not sure why, I moderate several leaderboards on speedrun.com and none of the others have done this. Might be a bug or something.
At any rate, feel free to resubmit any runs you may have to the corresponding category.
It is finally up, I hope someone may find it useful for the speedrun.
After a long time of inactivity, cleaning up the categories at last. Glitchless category will not allow the gold underflow glitch and Talon2 glitch into Goht area. Maybe we will see a new WR soon!
Anyone else think it would be cool to start a score based category? Ideally you would have to score enough to unlock the Burst weapon by stage 8, in addition to scoring afterward.
This category would not allow for the stage 1 cheat to unlock all the weapons as they must be unlocked normally. As I recall it takes a massive score to get the Burst weapon, not sure how much though, does anyone know?
As for how to obtain such a score, maximizing ammo, accuracy and efficiency, in addition to knowing where to camp to gain points, such as at the end of stage 2, midway through stage 4 after the base entrance is blown open, or stage 6, is important.
Theorizing a way to breathe life into running this game! What do you think Drum?
We have a new WR run that has been submitted for Glitchless by Paul.
I feel this now is again the time to bring up the aspect of dividing the leaderboard categories based upon the console/emulation used. We know that SGB and SGB2 will run slightly faster framerates than GBC, GBA, or other types of console/emulation.
While not a concern in the past, now, as we have more activity and active runners than ever before, it is coming back up for debate. Over the course of an hour and a half, and from what I have seen in testing, two runners can have the exact same things happen during the run, however, on SGB or SGB2, the estimated time difference is a whopping 2+ minutes.
This will most likely be put to a vote should the mods/runners here feel it required. Until then, the matter remains up for debate.
Should we add a category for completing the Scenarios? If so, should they be individual, all scenarios, or both?
Darkwing Duck has a time delay on his start for running this game. It is generally more accepted among speedrunners to do so. By doing so however, we alter the currently submitted runs.
I say we put it to a vote. We will re-examine this after 2 weeks time, plenty of time for anyone interested and active to vote.
