No, loading saves are not allowed. You're allowed to "Continue" in standard runs upon death, but loading a save (even an auto-save) is not allowed.
Good luck with your next run -- this sort of thing unfortunately happens to everyone (including myself) sometimes.
IGT is what is factored into the leaderboards, however, if you paused for too long, this would invalidate the run.
We're generally okay with pausing for a minute or two, but much longer and your run would be invalidated. There was a problem in 7 where people kinda abused pausing for too long a period of time. There was literally 4 hours of paused footage once while someone hit the town to run errands -- hence the policy.
It all really boils down to how long you were paused.
Except none of the consoles hold a solid 60 FPS, unlike PC which is more likely to do so. That affects times.
I think it's way too pre-mature to assume anything is going to "die" with this game, let alone people running the game at a frame rate.
It's kind of standard to ban mods in this series. Even though it's just an audio mod (and amazing at that), my biggest concern is suddenly a bunch of runs on the boards get DMCA'd (if we allowed it) randomly down the line, due to some record company deciding to be a jackass.
All good points we're happy to consider, but I still want to wait awhile and see the direction the boards take just from amount of runners and routes. I don't really want to make the majority ever have to cater to the minority (goes both ways, no matter which frame rate is most dominant in terms of popularity)
Triple check the settings, Alfon_so. That definitely sounds like a split that's not checked.
qvaku got it spot on, we're just doing the best we can with the craziness going on.
There's going to be complaining no matter what, right now.
Airwalking is exploiting an actual glitch in the animation system though, if not more-so a Y coordinate flaw in the coding. When most people talk airwalking, they talk about using it to go out of bounds. Either way, it's banned in the non-glitched category.
What sequence breaks are you talking about? You're correct, it would probably be banned, but go ahead and give an example so I know we're on the same page.
Written instructions:
Edit your splits and change the game name to "Resident Evil 2 2019". A message should display below "Start Timer at:" that notifies you that auto splitting and load removal is available by CursedToast. Click the "Activate" button.
After activating the RE2 autosplitter, click "Settings". Place a checkmark next to every split you want to use.
Afterwards, create your splits/segments. Name them anything you want (just make sure you have one split for each checkmarked autosplit setting). Order them however you'd like.
Make sure you compare against Game Time.
The animation performs the way it's intended to perform, we're just abusing it. There's no malfunction there, we're just taking advantage of one of the effects of aiming your gun.
Just like how Claire technically moves faster in caution because she'll stumble ahead ever so slightly.
Would you consider someone that's in caution as Claire glitching the game? Probably not.
Same with the aiming animation on stairs. Is it a glitch? No. Is it abuse? Yes.
A glitch is a programming quirk. Like the item duplication. An issue with the game code. The animations, however, function the way they're supposed to. We're just terrible people and abuse it.
I don't see it getting patched out or considered an issue by Capcom. Meanwhile if they patch anything, I would think it'd be item duplication (like how they fixed a similar issue with the HD remaster of REmake 1) or... you-know-what. :P
The rules for the main categories specifically mention OoB and item duplication being banned. Airwalking is OoB.
I edited the rules for the other main categories to clarify that stair skating/gliding is allowed, but that OoB and item duplication is banned.
There's a note in the rules that state "Use of out of bounds (OoB) and item duplication is allowed."
We've already said countless times we're waiting awhile to evaluate everything. It can't be that hard to miss with all the discussion on this subject.
You've been given reasons though, Ty. If anything, the most I could agree with is maybe separation by input methods, but I mean, it's standard to just separate by platform. At least every single Resident Evil game is that way, and I've seen other game series like that but...
Maybe we should just do things like Breath of the Wild, or DOOM, or Call of Duty, or Hotline Miami, or Dark Souls (and countless others) and just group it all together. No separation of anything, just toss it all together and have filters. 🤔
People are gonna be mad no matter what, anyway, so let's just do it like every other game series.
Want WR? Get off your PS4 and buy a top tier variable capable rig, otherwise you won't have the best time. That's simple (wanna go as fast as you can, you're gonna have to pay up, you're not entitled to a WR within your hardware capabilities), unfair, and standard. 🤷
It's day 2 of the leaderboards being open, I wish people would stop acting like it's just a "who has the best PC race only" thing already. It's not at that point yet. Nobody is playing that good. Just focus on getting better.
That's when it just becomes strictly opinion. Many would argue the 120 FPS route is more enjoyable/fun.
Well we got a lot more complaining from 120 FPS players when we initially were going to separate things. And I don't know too many people that would prefer to run on 60 when they're capable of running on 120 if 120 is an option, tbh
Nobody gets a consistent 120 FPS, it's if you get it during the boss fights that it matters most. It doesn't take top of the line hardware to reach that framerate at the important key parts. Most people have to adjust settings down to be able to achieve that. Although I know some people that are just flat out refusing to do so, though, and just push 60 FPS so they can run the game looking pretty.
That's not a majority case from my observation, but it has been a thing >_>
@Zener yeah, not without the majority of the community complaining. Kappa
I just think now is not the time to break it up into different categories, if we do.
You'd have like 20 runs in one category and 5 or 6 in another, right now. I'm down for re-evaluating in a month or so.
