That's my version of the elevator skip, faster but a lot less safe (version with the reserve flower).
I found a consistent way to trigger part of the koopas but I seem to always miss the cycle for a little, ending with a 343.
I think I'd rather just having different ILs. I may be wrong but I feel like everyone is still gonna use the fastest exit to have a faster time; on this system we'd still have only one time on one of the exit.
I guess there's no reason to not have ILs like that, going to fix this., just give me some time.
Cycles trigger when koopas appear on screen, so it could be possible, even quite safely, as long as you don't trigger all the three layers of koopas at the same time.
I feel like alternative exits'd need a separate ILs, like it's been done on NSMBW's leaderboards. Would it be fine if I add them ?
I'll add them once I'm done with Taylor Campbell's ones.
Also, whenever you find something wrong with ILs submissions like wrong times, missing video, tell it and I'll fix it
I'm really bad at routing and I still have to get into this stuff. At least I tested the 7-2 skip (w/ minimushroom) and it saves around 120 IGT seconds compared using the elevator for the entire level, (could potentially save more); goind to do an IL within the next 2 days. It just requires a good amount of practice and right timing.
EDIT: 7-2 skip'd be really hard using the mini for the first star coin too. Quite sure the second one is not really time consuming and the third is free.
Not that I know, are blocks which change powerup ok for routing ?
This route is pretty good, you both did a nice job ʘ‿ʘ
Didn't know about him, going to list his ILs. Thanks
While I agree that using incompleted files is more logical (and better for viewers), it's also true that new files could have more RNG than 100% files without red blocks / hammerbros, also, manipulating RNG is way far to be an easy task on 100% files and it's in a lot of cases a based on luck thing, just like full runs.
Also, I missed your point about gates and improvisation. ;-;
So, are gonna leaderboards stay the same, even if it's not an intended thing? This would be an interesting thing actually. I'm just really curious since I can't run this game currently.
The star coins problem would still make IWs different than portions of full game runs, unless we set a specific amount for each world. Playing on a 100% file would encourage route / powerups strats just for IWs itself rather than full runs. (it'd actually happen the same on a new file, just less I think). Also true that in 100% files gates are always opened, it doesn't really count.
Maybe we could exclude picking powerups from red blocks / hammerbros to cancel the major RNG factors and set a specific level order, but still playing on 100% files.
About Any% Warpless, I'm with having them in the leaderboards, but I can completely understand why people wouldn't want it.
Another thing: we also have to keep in mind that an IW's purpose hasn't to be a portion of full runs, I mean, they're a nice way to practice full runs, but this hasn't to be the main purpose.
Also, just counted all the star coins you need in this category, they're 30. If that's necessary, I'll provide all the star coins you can pick without loosing any time and their strats.
Without them, you couldn't access W4 and W7, so yes, I think they're allowed but not obligatory.
Another mini-mushroom is in 3-A and potentially in 3-1 ; 3-3 ; 3-A ; 3-M ; 4-4 ; 5-Fortress.
When you say 3-"C", do you mean the castle (AKA fortress) or the ALT level?
Also, what's the cutscene you're talking about? ;-;
Oh yes you're correct, that's what I mean.
I know I'm kinda the reason why Emus got banned, but it's useless as long as we have VC on the leaderboards too and I really didn't want this result.
For now I'm fine to have both, especially for ILs.
EDIT: I'm talking about Emus being "hidden".
Are rules gonna change? After all playing on a 100% file is good (didn't thought about star coins complications with new files), but I just wanna know since I may do some IWs.
Also, I don't know about Any% Warpless, while I'd really like it, it's also true that almost no one is gonna have a run in IWs, so the more categories means less competition, maybe I'm wrong.
It'd be a little "confusing" too since in W8 warpless and All levels would be the same.
Also, TAS run gains a ton of time on certain levels against current strats, see 8-6, TAS is 7(+1, 266 triggers fireworks) time units faster there than the current best 8-6 IL.
