Defining the 100% category

Like any other metroidvania, I think this game deserves a 100% category. While I have no plans on doing it myself at this time - if nothing else my ancient rig would explode if I tried recording anything longer than a minute - I would still like to get a feel of what others think. All three of you.

Most speedrunners will use a Metroid game's percent tracker, if it's available, to define a 100% category. The closest this game has is its art gallery, which unlocks different pictures for reaching certain milestones. However:

  1. Bosses are marked as "defeated" if you just walk past them and pick up the weapon they are guarding.

  2. The zyphoid counter bugs out after defeating the queen and continuously counts down at a rate of 1 per frame. Since this causes it to be set to 0 for a frame, the game will mark all zyphoids as defeated, even if you haven't killed a single one.

Both of these seem to go against the spirit of what 100% means.

The other issue are the pieces locked behind scanning lore. Does anybody really care about that? Fortunately, if it's decided that they should be included, most of them aren't really out of the way. The biggest problem would be Luka's diaries, which will require a significant detour.

I'm personally of half a mind to just say "all items" as that's what 100% in most Metroids really means.

Anyone else have any thoughts?

I'm also of half a mind to make a few arbitrary calls to try and balance the technical needs of the category with something that's a bit more interesting and exciting to watch. In this case, kill all the bosses, do not scan lore, and disregard the queen's kill counter bug in favor of a different kill bug: in this case, the zyphoid I kill at the top of the Snowdrop cliff causes the counter to drop to 33, killing the remaining larvae. Would this be acceptable?
