Story Mode

So I was taking a look at the suggestions channel on the Discord server and I really like Ross' idea for a new run. I definitely think that a story mode speedrun would be incredibly interesting.

Given what was said in the suggestion, here is my current thoughts on it. I think using our usual easy speedrun settings would be best for a run like this. I think that you can only access a map if you have beaten the previous one within the run but can go between maps transferring dinos and items as needed within that (for example, after beating the Manticore the runner can play on The Island, Scorched Earth, and Aberration but not Extinction). The run ends when Extinction is beaten as that is the end of the normal game and Genesis would suck if added onto that.

It seemed like most people on the Discord had voted in favor of the suggestion and I myself am a huge fan as I think it will bring an interesting new flavor of runs to the community for those who have more time on their hands and are interested. It's definitely worth thinking about and discussing at the very least.

Wow ... interesting. How to to transfer on singleplayer (dinos, items)?

I understand that Center, Ragnarock, ISO and Valguero maps will turn off. There will be two story lines:

  1. Island -> Scorched -> Aberation -> Extinction
  2. Genesis P1 -> Genesis P2 -> may be new genesis (please, wildcard :))

i think you transfer through the obelisks

That new category must be for easy and default or only easy? I think to add all of them.

In that runs when you restart your run for example on scorched earth, do you need reload your character and stuff from last map (after ascension). What i mean: When you beat overseer you have rex and cryopod + some guns. You can freeze your tame and save it in you inventory. When you enter next map, you can upload that character. And you can save his data file for the next run (you will restart map many times). And when you restart you reload the data and upload your character again. BUT! You reset all previous maps (buildings and stuff are gone). But you can transfer from completed maps.

that sounds good so you can transfer what ever you bring to the tek cave (whats on your character after ascension) to the next map. and once a map is completed if you want you can wipe the save file and keep the character file and then start the next map with the same character. because thats sort of how it goes in lore

But Scorched without ascention. From Sc Ea we can no bring character with items. Only if load them into the obelisk.

I think that we can upload all that we want on scorched.

So we're sure that it's possible to transfer a character, including all of the stuff on them at the time, across Arks? I've never really tried it before so I wouldn't know. If so then I guess I should start routing because I am hellbent on running this category if we make it a thing.

In singleplayer i never did that. Now i can not check it because i am running already default island. And i so close to final or wipe.

Todays i find one mistake in the rules: brand new player mush have 105 lvl max (Just in case).

p.s. That fucking troodons and fucking kaprosuchuses little bastards much more powerfull then final boss.

(Story Mode Run) Also i need to make video with all explorer notes - show them all and show its count ... or may be if that is possible we can clear exlorer notes book in the game for checking how much notes left.
