The state of series mods on the site is, imo, a disorganized mess that needs to be addressed. Some series have them, some don't, and there doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason why.
I understand the necessity of series mods for series like Roblox games or minecraft custom content that handle an unreasonably large amount of game requests that site staff can't reasonably be expected to filter through. And features like setting a default theme for games in series is a nice touch but could be handled in a way that doesn't require dedicated series mods (and is thus available to series that don't have mods currently).
But the fact that there are a large amount of small series that see rare to no game requests but still have requests go through series mods is a massive pain that shouldn't exist. I have had and heard of multiple bad experiences with trying to get games added to these series - the mods are often largely inactive and can take weeks to respond and are often apathetic or disinterested in adding new games because their series is small and/or unpopular and they simply don't want to be bothered. I have also been told by series mods that they believed they shouldn't add games and to go to src instead - who promptly told me to go to series mods.
All of this seems like a completely unnecessary annoyance in getting smaller / more obscure games added that happen to be parts of series that have mods. Instead of requests going through one source that (hopefully) responds to requests promptly and with a degree of consistency, they're scattered to a ton of series mods who may or may not be active enough to see and respond to the request and may or may not still be actively interested in maintaining and adding missing games to their series.
Again, I understand the necessity of series mods for large series with a ton of game requests. But I don't see why small, inactive series should have them, especially when they are generally toothless in most other regards.
Imo, remove series mods from all but those series that see a regular, large amount of requests (or at least handle game requests through src rather than through those mods), and open up the series page / default theme in a different way that doesn't require series mods or an src support request, because right now the system is a mess that needs to be addressed.
Thanks
Also, new series aren't having mods added to them. That's fine, but that means no one can set the theme so it just has the default ? cover and all. Want to at least be able to change this on request
That’s exactly what she said
Pretty sure Act7 was talking about Wrap's (now deleted) post, not yours.
Also, I recently had a series rejected for “A series is not necessary.” What makes a series necessary or not? If they aren’t adding a Scratch series, I made a request for a series of games on Scratch “The Ninja” with 4 games on the site. I was given that reason when it was rejected. It makes little sense.
^ we received the same response multiple times when requesting a Ratatouille series with 5+ games, only for it to eventually be accepted. Seems to just be based on whatever the immediate reaction of the first person to read your ticket is.
I mean, the staff could remove series’ like the DAN-BALL series, those games are horrible speedgames.
The mistake with the DAN-BALL series was letting the people in charge add any game. Some games were bad but its also true that theres more games like ham race, rockets, rocats and micro panda that deserve to stay as they are fun.
I agree with @Kkntucara , series such as DAN-BALL and Pacman Fan Games have great games within them, but it was the series mods adding the low quality, barely speedrun-able games that caused the issue.
I don’t understand what happened to the adding series rule. Site staff have added a coloring game series and a dokiri god avoidance series but not a scratch series with tons of games about it.
i'll add something probably not on topic with the forum itself rather just a bit of an issue roblox series has faced a few times in the past few months, sometimes non-roblox games are rejected and told to submit to the roblox game submissions forum and then other times site mods will add a roblox game themselves, and in most cases these are games the the quality assurance team for the roblox series would not accept to the site just thought i'd vent here idk i'm not involved with it much anymore but i thought it should at least be noted
@jackzfiml Thanks for that. I went to edit a series today; couldn't find a function I was looking for; then noticed I was editing a game all the sudden. Thought I was losing my mind over here.
Right now I dont think that theres a lot of things that they can give to series mods given that within a series the boards are kinda independent. One thing Id like to see though would be the option for series mods to accept a game to their series as an unofficial release. This was brought up by Vypr in the thread about the discoverability of games and the usefulness of the unofficial release tag. I think it has been reported to the support hub so we just need to wait
The only thing I'd like to see is more clear rules on what gets a series and what doesn't. For example, I requested The Ninja to have its own series, and it got accepted. I did not get moderator status, so I asked about it in a support ticket, and was told "we aren't adding moderators at this time", though I have seen series without mods suddenly get them during the time I was trying to get moderator status.
tl;dr src is confusing af
