With the new addition of the Space map, do we remove all full runs, much like last time a new map was added "Pirate Cove" or do we keep the 6 map runs as there own category, maybe we could call it the FIRST 6 map category? I know that suggestion is dumb but it kinda sucks deleting the full runs again.

Im in favor of turning without space into a Misc, and making the main category all maps

Honestly I think resetting the leaderboards might be better, because after all, you have to beat the whole game, not just some segment of it. As much as I hate to lose my time as well, this decision is better in my opinion.

Plus a lot of old strats aren't working anymore since the powerups update (ones you used in your WR run as well), so WR even might be unbeatable, which, well, breaks the whole point of running this game.

I like Roushmore's idea and I don't there's anyway both should be main categories. As Growking said, the strats have changed so much that the board is pretty outdated, as it is.

How would have the powerups update changed if strats work or not, powerups should be off in most categories anyway.

If the old strats don't work for some reason, then i believe the boards may have to be reset.

Russia

The powerups update changed physics (?) in the game, which means if you try to use some of the old strats, you'll go out of bounds or bounce in the direction you didn't wanted to.

That's something to take a look at. When i played a couple of weeks ago, I didn't FEEL anything different, but I digress.

If "w/o Space" is going to be a thing in Misc., why wasn't there a "w/o Pirate Cove" "w/o Ancient" and so on when the addition of new maps were previously added. I think a better solution could of been starting from Forest to Twilight when the game released with those three maps, with subcategories labeled as Misc., not in Misc., where you add each map as they get released. Here is an example of this: https://prnt.sc/p2s7lm (Rules would have to state that for whatever category you're running you're also doing the map above, say if you run +Candyland, Haunted must be done in the run as well). Something like this could prevent all of those runs from being removed. I don't think this is too much either, though I don't recall how many verified runs there were at the time before removal caused by each maps addition. Eventually when the final map would be released, you could take off Misc. for that specific subcategory as it would clearly be the full-game run (The names I put in the image are just examples, could be renamed better). With such subcategories, all the previous times can be archived while allowing new runs to be accepted, it's a win win for everyone.

I agree with that point Tech, especially how making each of the releases their own category would prevent the history of those runs from being lost.

but...

I'm not a content mod, and I only a few months ago started fiddling around with editing the game pages for the categories I do mod, and I don't appreciate the tone you took with that message. It comes across like almost blaming the mods for not having a system set in place to make a seamless transition between updates. The system has changed dramatically in the (damn, its been nearly 2 years since pirate cove) 2 years since we last had a scenario similar to this. Sometimes, you just can't see in the future and have the expected outcome come to fruition (the devs had announced only 6 courses were going to be made prior to Pirate Cove's release).

On the other hand, as GrowKing has pointed out, the physics HAVE changed over time (holes have changed too, but not as dramatically as in the past), so simply creating a new category would possibly work (as long as you stated which version of the game each category is supposed to [be ran/have been ran] on), BUT, you would have to do the same for all the ILs (Since those would be outdated as well).

ILs are tough situation, I recommend we don't delete any of them until we at least can guarantee that there has been at least 1 change to that specific map, or if somehow the overall physics of the game have changed in that certain shots that used to possible, are now impossible.

I've suggested the full-game categories like this a couple of times throughout the last 3 years. It's frustrating to see times just removed because a new map is released when there are clearly better options that allow to archive the runs and new runs to are able to get verified. Pre Pirate Cove the archiving subcategories still could be made, it was obvious they planned to make many more maps and how awkward transitioning full-game categories would be, so yes this could of been done from release, there was no seeing in the future.

I mean, I feel like this is what we get for running a game that's in Early Access. Even if it sucks, we're kinda stuck with the way it is. I know how many strats I've had to change on the fly in runs, and it's even different now with the sidewalls not bouncing the same, so...yeah...

I love the idea of keeping everything in the extensions list, but I do feel that NSO% needs to be updated. My runs with Space are still too slow to submit, but the grind is part of the fun, too.

So... is a decision gonna be made?

Didn't want to bother to make another thread for this question, but well, can i use program to invert the Y axis on my mouse so that the games aiming works like it used to, also i might make a macro to turn it off in menus, is this mod too far?

South Australia, Australia

Nevermind, found out the game does have a setting to invert the power, also it has been a week, can we get a decision from someone with what we are doing, i honestly don't mind if reset full runs or make them into NSO%, just doing nothing is the worst option.

Ohio, USA

Yeah, my runs are nearly ready to be submitted. (They're crap, but it gives me something to fully run against.) So knowing is better than not knowing what's going on.

South Australia, Australia

Ok, honestly i don't mind if we make a "without space" category, or just reset all the full game leaderboards, just please can we get some mod input, option 1: delete all full game leaderboards, option 2: without space added, option 3: put it to a vote. One other thing is the IL's those need to be sorted as well, i think we should archive the old runs and make a new IL's with the new physics because IL's take more time now. Note:(archive doesn't need to take place on speedrun.com, that way the LB's won't need to get too overfilled.)

United States

I'm no mod but if the physics changed I think that's a bigger cause to reset the leaderboards. A big part of me wants to somehow preserve the runs so that people can look more at them.

Does anyone know how the physics changed?
