New Exploit with Implications on Glitchless Co-Op

For some reason bubbles can trigger area transition save points and olmec save points, but not checkpoint stands. Abusing this mechanic can allow you to skip the Isle cut-scene, as shown in the video. Nothing else has been found with this yet but its possible that something could come up.

Showed this to the glitchless runners, and after some discussion it seems like this should be disallowed from solo glitchless since it uses multiple players in a solo category.

The rules already ban this from solo categories. ("one input device") However I thought it'd be worthwhile to post this here to hear people's opinions on this exploit in regards to Co-Op, and to document the exploit somewhere more visible.

I would also like to hear people's opinions on changing the name of "Glitchless" to "No Major Glitches", since the current glitchless category abuses the arena skip exploit in Serpent Temple.

I agree with this glitch being usable only for co-op only runs. However the "one input device" rule is rather ambiguous since the three fastest any% runs should be disqualified as we all use a controller for most of the run except to do the SDG when we arrive at Los Manglares for the first time.

Concerning the change from "Glitchless" to "No Major Glitches", before doing that we need to define which glitches are considered major or not (SDG is obviously a major glitch but swaphop can be considered not major). Personnaly, depending on what is authorised or not for this new category, I would prefer have the No Major Glitches category as a new category first, see what the route would be and then decide if it's still worth to have 3 categories.

The "one input device" is a bit ambiguous admittedly, as it could technically mean either "one input device at a time" or "only one input device throughout the run".

However since every single any% run on the board uses a mouse to hit ok on the menu I don't think anyone would interpret that as the latter. I don't think anyone looks at that part and thinks that they wouldn't be allowed to start their run with one controller and switch to another if said controller dies. (cough) I don't think there is a great way to reword that if you wanted to, as "one input device at a time." could then also mean "I can use player 2 if I only control one of them at a time!" and having to add more and more descriptors on a simple rule panel on a technicality is not ideal.

Also, let me clarify that changing "glitchless" to "no major glitches" would be in name only. The category would stay the exact same otherwise, and the name change would just be so the laymen would understand that there may be some minor exploits in the run. (Such as wallhopping or the arena skip.)

The point of the one input device clause is to show we want people to use what is comfortable, not what allows for input fuckery, or things a person could not reasonably accomplish without significant time or monetary investment. As for NMG vs Glitchless, both things mentioned feel like exploits or oversights, not glitches. Swaphopping is probably the most grey area in the series I feel.

Currently it's only me and BoneyC running glitchless at the moment. I feel that Glitchless should be a single player single controller category. We could put a 1p2c and co-op category on the board but the truth is it's unlikely anyone would play them. Also I feel that it should remain "Glitchless" as to avoid any confusion because as Turbodog702 said, swaphopping is a grey area that could be argued in the future, this way it's clear.

As I do not run any% I don't feel I should have an input on the rules of that category but as far as I can see, doing this trick on any% will involve removing an active SDG or the game will crash if you pause and quit with 2 players active (even if one is a bubble) so it seems more hassle than it's worth imo. Even 100% co-op is much slower than single player so I can't see much interest, not that the Guac co-op speedrunner scene ever saw much action outside me and Lady anyway.

I floated the 1P1C rule across the board just because I feel we'd just be putting extra categories on the board to include future players which may or may not come. if there is sufficient interest I saw we put them up there but until then I don't see much point. I also don't see a problem using a mouse under 1P1C to do menuing as to my knowledge you can't control a character using a mouse. If you can that would be entertaining to watch.
