New Categories

The main category is and will likely stay as any% unrestricted. We also have the categories "All Clues" and "100%", as well as a "glitchless" variable. -Would you be interested in having a new category / new categories? -What are some ideas for categories you have, that you'd like to see added? These should preferably be fairly unique categories, where the strategy to win changes, as well as categories that won't take away from any%, but will offer something fun to do on the side. Open to any and all suggestions :)

A max difficulty run could be fun, max Bigfoot damage and health with minimum loot luck.

Gunless runs are doable and enjoyable as well. 🙂

I really want to know if melee only is possible. i.e. no drone, traps, guns, or explosives. Probably not possible, but it would be a difficult challenge if its even possible (I feel like this could birth a lot of new strategies in duo especially) It would take a while to chase bigfoot due to him wanting to run, but as long as its possible it could have a very niche category.

Another type I could see would be PVP; with both all clues, and basic kill bigfoot as the sub categories for it, this one could spawn a lot of its own strategies in its own right (glitches hopefully)

331 / max difficulty runs would be a top pick for me as well, since pre-planned fights might make a comeback. Unless you're insane (in a good way) I suppose, and kill him night 1 / day 2. Only thing I might be worried about is first-aid kit rng since I don't think the same amount spawn every time. Then again, there should be enough, as long as you don't get hit too much.

Gunless is also another top pick, as it really changes up the strats since you no longer have to go for m4, and you'd have to make an optimal route for max explosive/trap spawns.

I honestly doubt pure melee is possible, or if it is, it would take multiple nights, which doesn't really make for a good speedrun. It would be fun to attempt it, but that's more of a challenge and less of speedrunnable category.

PvP would also be very interesting (and funny), as it eliminates the rng of encountering Bigfoot. Additionally, Bigfoot would have to try to take as much environmental damage as possible while waiting for the hunter(s) to gather ammo, explosives, etc.. This would also be the only category that can support 5 players.

I like these ideas - in fact they are pretty much exactly the same ones I previously had lol. If anyone wants to suggest anything else, add on to these, or even just show that they like the ideas, feel free to keep replying.

I think 331 would be if it from the fact that dying is a possibility, might encourage use of a designated healer for maximum HP gain per Med Kit. I also think it will create more opportunities it’s for “do we hunt or do we hide” scenarios. Might be longer runs but it could be fun

As for the PVP runs i would assume we would need some heavy rules to avoid staged runs. Also making it balanced, probably at the 222 settings.

I just realized that the PvP runs are meant to be staged XD in that case big foot can drown in the water so that would be the strat for 2 of the maps.

Yeah I don't think speedrun.com is a fan of "actual" pvp games anyway (the rng is put on whoever you're competing against). Bigfoot trying to kill all the hunters as fast as possible would be another take on a pvp category, where the strat would be to get enough stam to use ram run over and over. I think Bigfoot death would still be better for a pvp category. I might do a few tests on 331 / 333 and see how hard they are. I think 333 would be less annoying, but 331 would maximise that chance that you have to wait until at least night 2.

From my experience 331 isn’t too hard that it seems undoable. I feel like I could win 9/10 runs on those settings, I also feel like pvp loot scaling goes wild on 3. 2 car batteries, 3 gas cans, etc. my vote is definitely 331 🙂

Also I wonder if any records would have players being revived during the run XD

PvP would be on 113 most likely; with the kill Bigfoot goal and player-Bigfoot being cooperative with the hunters. And we did two duos runs just now to test and there isn't really a difference. 331 was a bit harder just because we didn't have as much gear for an early encounter. Yellowstone might be a different story with 331, but for a hardest difficulty category I'd end up doing 331
