Imagine comparing a user account with physical collectibles. I mean that was a nice explanation of your business model, but this had nothing to demonstrate that it was legitimate. And Valve doing it only means they chose to open that Pandora's box, nothing more. Not that it is the norm.
Reality is that accounts never really belong to you. They're TOS-bound. They can be closed on a whim by the platform they belong to. Tangible, physical goods and collectible memorabilia cannot be revoked in such a manner. That comparison is flimsy at best.
Yes, even for those Valve accounts with so, so many skins. Those so-called "collectibles" gone bye bye for any reason Valve would feel like giving out at that point in time. Not the kind of collectible I'd like to spend money on.
Oh, what's that? Legal action for wrongful termination of an account? What about wrongful acquisition of said account? That's a game no one in their right mind would want to play, and cases that any judge would throw out, laughing their butt off.
I understand that you wish to defend the business you have obvious interests in, but that did not cut it. Maybe it did in your own rationalization, but all you've demonstrated is that you wouldn't want action to be taken; not that legitimacy is the norm for account marketplaces.
I'd be all up for it. I love the game, but admittedly haven't got the skill level required yet to take it all the way to 24 races. :P
The only difference in the way I see it is that it would end once the race you got the O from ends. It would be odd to me to end a run mid-race in this game. Heck, it could even be when the game is done counting the NINTENDO letters. :P But that's just my take on it, nothing more.
The Super Retro Trio by retro-bit is still a SOAC, even in its 2021 revision. It is not a FPGA system.
Just wondering: has any decision been taken yet regarding this? I may or may not have a few 6.1 runs to post. ;)
@bold If people would be as dedicated doing good in this world as you are hating on a site's feature and its users, the world would be a much better place.
And that comes from someone who's been cynical and skeptical of ELO since they came in. Now they do the one thing people have been asking them to do (as donating was on the pre-ELO site), and you butt in with nothing but "LOL, THIS SUXX, IM RITE UR RONG, CRI MOAR MEDAL-WEARING SHEEPLE!".
I'd suggest having the old runs kept in "archive-like" levels such as "Pre-6.1 Cape Westwind / Castrum / Praetorium", and the new ones should be redone over as Castrum, Praet, and Porta are essentialy new dungeons / trials.
I'd go with Crunan on that one, as it would be more accessible to new runners without being as... well, easy as easy (says the easy runner, LOL).
But yeah, I'd agree with that change, if that works with everyone else. It would make sense to me.
As it's a FPGA system, I wouldn't be surprised if it was allowed. Perhaps mods would be able to shine light on this matter.
Since trusts will eventually become a thing for all dungeons (starting from 6.1), this could be a sub-category for dungeon runs. I feel like this would have merit as the time it'll take will mostly, if not fully, depend on the player as we can expect trusts to maintain the same performance level across the board. There won't be any variable factor such as "luck of the draw" when it comes to groups in roulettes.
Quick question: is there a discord server for THH? I've looked for TMNT discord servers and most of the links I've seen in other games were invalid, so I wonder if those are around as well.
With that said, if there is none, I was wondering if there would be an interest in the community for one.
Thanks in advance for your feedback. :)
It has been brought to my attention that MESEN RTA's hit version 0.0.6, with a wide array of features that will help moderation. It retains MESEN's well-known accuracy while providing avenues for game moderators to ensure the game is being played clean. This fork namely does provide info on the ROM used, the type of reset used, the ROM's SHA1 hash to validate the rom being used as appropriate. More info in the video below.
SpaceColonizer's video:
Needless to day, this fork is most definitely approved and encouraged as the main MESEN fork to use for speedrunning purposes, and we would like to encourage our MESEN users to migrate to this fork.

NEWS: While we will certainly keep supporting Mesen within the same conditions that were previously underlined, I would like to direct players to the following:
https://github.com/threecreepio/mesenrta/releases
This is a Mesen release compiled by threecreepio for the SMB1 community. It basically strips the run-ahead feature and shows the input display by default on screen. I would definitely recommend speedrunners using Mesen to move to this fork of Mesen as I'm sure more and more games will follow in SMB1's initiative and allow this fork.
That's certainly a way to do it. We only require to see the entire run up until the stage the submission is for, just to be sure there's a proper reset, and a reasonable effort to time the run between the stage's start fanfare and the last hit on your last opponent.
We also accept stage grind attempts, so long as the run also includes the last reset up to that point.
First frame is the first frame of movement after "DUN DU-DUN, DU-DU-DU-DUN, DU-DUUUUUUUN!".
Last frame is when your opponent's last energy bar disappears on the top HUD.
As counter-intuitive to speedrunning this game as that sort of cheat would be (ie: dying = slow), I'd say it would still be prohibited.
No worries, I redid the count on my end.
