Currently getting the following error when trying to launch the game: "The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail." (0x36B1)

So far, I have tried restarting my computer and re-installing steam. Hoping to figure something out. I do have an integrated graphics card which has caused me problems with other games, although this particular error is new to me.

Any help appreciated, will update this thread if I resolve the issue

If you get the error message "The Application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. ... (0x36B1)": This issue will most likely be caused by an ancient missing MSVC++ 2005 redist. You can find it here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=26347

You'll need the x86 version, as the game is running in 32bit mode.
