• Which category should I run ? Any% runs may be easier to finish than Fresh File runs at the beginning. Hardest difficulty is obviously hard if you can't finish game consistently in 4/5BC. Imo Any% warpless < Any% warps < Fresh File < Hardest difficulty, in terms of difficulty. It seems to me also more instructive for a beginner. If you suck at skips, Any% warps may be easier. But in general, just run the category you seem to like the most ! :)

Then, if you have the game on Steam, you have to paste it on C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\yourID\588650\ folder and rename it user_0 (user_0 is the first save slot, user_1 the second and so on) for example, after deleting the previous user_0 file.
(make sure to enable steam cloud in game for it to work)

• Why my Livesplit timer doesn't work ?/I want a fancy autosplitter ! Be sure to activate the autosplitter in the Edit Splits menu. Read this guide if you still have issues.

• My timer (doesn't) stops in special rooms ! In Any%, make sure the timing method of your timer is Game Time. In Fresh File, it is real time. To check that, edit layout > double left click on Timer. Or you can download ready-to-use layouts on https://www.speedrun.com/deadcells/resources

• My timer starts well at the beginning, but doesn't split between levels ! You may be playing the game with another language than English or French. To fix that, choose one of this language, or harass R30hedron#9520 on Discord to update the autosplitter with your language. :)

• Which software should I use to record or stream my runs ? To edit them ? Most of us use OBS, an open-source and free software. I personally use Avidemux then to cut the relevant parts. If you stream your runs, you can use Twitch/Youtube editors, but it is longer.
