I added an ingame timer to the game (with help from @dimusnail).
With this your PC's performance no longer affects your time and the annoying retiming is eliminated.
Also I found out that the game does not actually run at 30 frames per second, but rather each frame lasts 33 milliseconds plus the time it takes to render the frame. So on a fast PC you have a framerate closer to 30.3 frames per second. For the ingame timer each frame is assumed to be exactly 33 milliseconds long.
Lastly the top 3 runs on the leaderboard had their time adjusted to one that is possible with the ingame timer: 26.533 -> 26.532 27.000 -> 26.994
