How to play Shindou version on Switch

If you have a North American or other non-Japanese regional Nintendo account with a Nintendo Switch Online (NSO) subscription to play Wave Race 64 on Switch, it's possible to play the Shindou version without paying for an additional NSO subscription. This requires zero changes to your primary user/account settings such as region or language.

As the Shindou version offers some key benefits, I've created this simple guide to help others access it. Cheers!

1. Create a new Nintendo account with "country/region of residence" set to Japan at [https://accounts.nintendo.com/](https://accounts.nintendo.com/). This will require a different email address than your primary Nintendo account.
2. Create a new user on your Switch and link it to your new Japanese Nintendo account.
3. While logged into your new Japanese user/account on your Switch, download the Japanese N64 NSO app from the Japanese Nintendo eShop.
4. Once the app download is complete, log into your normal, non-Japanese user/account on your Switch. You should now be able to open the Japanese N64 NSO app on your Switch home screen and play the Shindou version.
