upd2: it is not just this laser, but in fact all lasers. i checked any% NLS to see if this was utilized and simply considered a glitch, but i found nothing. this trick removes the need to wait for a lot of lasers, but i don't see it being used in many categories

upd: the trick is quite easy to get consistently. would this be allowed in any% glitchless? i'm not sure if it is considered a glitch or not. in my eyes, this is not a glitch. the top of this laser seems to not have its hitbox set correctly, the top square seemingly not having a hitbox at all.

i was running the game like normal until i accidentally did this, is this already known and simply too risky to go for or an actual new time save? i have no clue what caused it>
