I'll see how I go answering some of the questions.

So yes, Tonics are allowed in runs. And you can start the run with them already unlocked. As you know Tonic progression is carried over between global saves on your account, and to clear it you would have to uninstall the entire game, or do some backscreen work in Steam files. No thanks; so just have the ones you want unlocked before starting a run.

The IGT isn't exactly known. But we do know it runs during all cutscenes, even the final cutscene after Capital B's defeat. Menuing and loads, not too sure. However this is irrelevant because we do not use IGT as a measure here, it's too inaccurate.

When it comes to timing methods here; Console is using RTA. And PC is using RTA (temporarily) until we have a working Load-Removal script for Livesplit. So yeah, the IGT isn't necessary.

Yeah nickfredy, so IGT is probably a no go. Loadless times on livesplit, or RTA timed are accurate and competitive.

And Shade, we dont need to create an entire leaderboard for different platforms since they all share the same rules. You can filter the leaderboard by platform, so if you just want to compare PC's, you can, or just consoles, can do that too, all one the same leaderboard.

Any news on when the RTA-forced sorting bug will be fixed? Some games which use IGT as the main measure, have their leaderboards (by default), sorted via RTA. This results in many obsolete runs appearing, and an incorrect leaderboard. I've seen this posted a few times in the Discord chat, but any news on when a fix will go live?

It would be much easier at File Select, yes. Now I don't run the game or anything, but I believe starting it at Power On is an outdated rule that was never changed, and is why it's the standard today.

Although that's true spennicus, I don't like how runs can be verified without some sort of evidence, despite the position on leaderboard. It defeats some of the principles of having a leaderboard, if some have proof and others do not. Sure, there is a difference between Top 25 and 300th place, but at what number does it all of a sudden become "important"? I mean, 'average' players could be battling between 300th to 150th place, and I could essentially put a false claim in, have it verified by making it appear real, and then pushing everyone down.

Basically, I don't think the position on the leaderboard should determine whether you need a video or not, on a verified-required leaderboard.

I don't speedrun this properly (i've done my fair share of amatuer runs though; so I dont have a much of a real input), but wouldn't this category just be getting to 10 stars quickly? You only need 8 to Bowser 1, which you can then go to HMC for Green Cap, and then also bring water down outside for Blue Cap. And then 2 more stars (Which you can get from the Green/Blue caps), to unlock the entrance to the Red Cap.
