I cannot deny that you are right in one of your points. Eventually, the faster players would come and beat the slower players or just fill in the board, giving no chance to the slower players. That argument from me was dumb, yes, but what I tried to mean was: there must have been (and/or still is) someone waiting for a specific category to be added.
However, I cannot fathom your second point. Comparing two boards from completely different games, even though they're from the same franchise, does not sound right to me. Sure, GRID 2's board is very empty, but what's the point of "gatekeeping" and not using certain car classes just because "it would make the board more empty and uglier" when the car classes are very distinct from each other?
I'll give you an example: DiRT 5. When I first visited the page, it had no car classes and it was very empty, just like Gravel did (and still does unfortunately). When I was added as a moderator, I still added the car classes to it, making the board even emptier. It did not make sense (for me) not having the game's car classes separated when there's a huge difference between them.
Another example: DiRT 2. There are at least 3 categories that have little to no runs compared to the other categories, which boards are mostly full. If we went by that logic, then we would merge those 3 categories together and make it into a single category called "Landrush", when the classes act very differently from each other.
If the "refusal" of not adding the other car classes is purely because of aesthetic, then I am sorry but I find it quite illogical. Besides, as I mentioned earlier, inside the "Free Class" category you have a few runs made on GT2 cars and Demolition Derby and LMP1 cars, so why not making the categories even if they would be quite empty?
If the addition of the car classes still gets refused, then I at least ask for the addition of subcategories separating the car classes.
I have read the last forum about this topic that the previous head-moderator replied to, saying it would not be necessary because the cars handle similarly and etc., but I am interested into speedrunning those classes and plus, I think it would give a chance to new people try and do runs with their favourite cars perhaps, to not talk about how it would give more people the chance to hold a WR or just simply more variety to the board.
I know these aren't the best examples to stand my point of view but maybe you can understand what I mean.
"Free Class" is alright until you notice GT2 cars don't stand a chance against Prototype cars (I saw some runs and the two classes have at least a 20 seconds gap from each other), which will make everyone dodge those cars in general, which is why I stand by the decision of having more IL categories for those classes.
Besides, we could make this board similar to the GRID 2 boards and include every car class on the IL categories like it has (I believe).
There's no ACAT mod because you can use all car classes in all tracks by default.
Hehehe, GGs on your first run! That was good! You still have a lot to learn though if you wanna catch me someday. ;)
You can post your old runs in the DLC categories if you want too.
Oh crap. I forgot to revert the previous runs in the DLC categories to put them in the correct subcategories.
Anyways, you're allowed to use ALTs here, I don't see a reason to ban them.
Actually, it would be a good addtition to the category extension, but the page needs a lot of fixes. It's a mess, lol. I could try to ask a ticket for a category extension just for this game.
Can we expect something soon then?
I'm sorry for my bad clarification in this forum. For me, shortcuts are the smash gates and/or anything that is outside the main roads. Jumps are only considered shortcut if they are used to cut roads. But I guess it's not a good addition then. I'm sorry.
I've come up with this idea. I suggest a "No Shortcut" subcategory for the Levels category. I think this could open a bigger diversity to this page and give more people the attempt and opportunity to own a WR.
My idea is: if a person doesn't use a single shortcut in their run, it should be in a different leaderboard ("No Shortcut"). However, if a person uses a single one, it will be quickly counted to "Glitchless/Any Glitch/No Traffic" leaderboard.
I understand that creating this subcategory might be hard now due to the amount of runs in this page, especially in the Level category, but I would like to offer myself in helping to move runs that were submitted in "Glitchless" and shortcuts were not used at all (if it happens to be accepted).
Thank you for your attention.
Hello!
I'm announcing the new addition of two sub-categories in the Full Game leaderboards: "Previous Generation" and "New Generation".
This happened because runners with the oldest consoles (PS4 or XBOX One) have a very big and unfair disadvantage against runners with the newest consoles (PS5, XBOX Series or PC) due to the game event loading times.
P.S. :
1 - PS4Pro is excluded from "Previous Generation" consoles, unless proof is shown that PS4Pro has the same loading times from PS4/XBOX.
2 - If your PC is a low-end PC (no SSD or is old), then you are allowed to put it in "Previous Generation".
Thank you for your understanding.
This sounds more of a Category Expansion thing rather than a category being added to this page, but it is just my point of view.
Hello! The staff of this page have decided to create a Discord server dedicated to this page! Unfortunately, it is not an official server made by the real DiRT 5 creators, nor it has an enhancing look, maybe, but we have done enough to make it an enjoyable place!
