category extensions, runs that don't fit the main board (ik there was discussion going on in the discord about how the forgotten desert requires membership, which not everyone has, so people didn't want it on the main board)

about half the games currently don't have moderators. here's a list of them:

i could moderate jd4 or jd3, but not the other ones.

that is an interesting idea! it probably is a hassle to add all the songs, but i think it would be cool.

this game doesn't have any moderators atm, so i don't think this can be implemented yet (i don't even know if runs can be verified.... probably not). i'm not sure how to get moderators on an unmoderated game, though i know @flyi has done it before (https://www.speedrun.com/jd2020/thread/sry7h)

i just noticed that the urls for all the other just dance games are formatted like "jd[number]" while only this one is formatted as "just_dance_[number]". maybe it could be changed to "jd2019" to be more uniform?

the rules haven't been updated yet, at least on my end. (i just submitted a run for pill bugs and used the hedge hog timing method)

anyways, i decided to go easy mode because i figured the guide for throws would help me go faster. turns out that in easy, way fewer blue bugs spawn! the run i submitted is 3 minutes long, and this run i tried (in hard mode) is 5 minutes long:

there is a very big disparity of times between easy and hard mode (idk about medium), so i feel like different leaderboards for each difficulty would be ideal. that probably won't happen since few people speedrun this game, but maybe if pill bugs picks up more traction

explanation for all the runs:

sweat & playlists category is when you do one of just dance 2020's sweat options (10' playlist, 20' playlist, 30' playlist). you report the time on the in-game timer, try to get the lowest time

all songs category is where you play all the songs in the main track list as fast as you can, score doesn't matter. i believe this includes alternates but not unlimited exclusives (but feel free to correct me on that)

5 stars% is the same as all songs, except you need to get at least 5 stars on all the songs

all stars is doing all stars mode as fast as possible

for non-stop pop, the goal is dance as long as possible! detailed instructions for that one is in the category rules (also, if you have jd2020 on wii like i do, you can do this mode through non-stop shuffle)

sweet! i'm in favor of using edited versions of the final coins since the graphics on the beta ones seem a bit crusty (and inconsistent in depth)

so, i'm going to try and submit WHOAHler coaster to speedrun.com, and i've come up with three categories: speedrun making 1 successful coaster, speedrun unlocking every bonus piece of track, and speedrun successfully using every bonus piece of track

so my questions are:

1. any ideas for other runs?
2. i'm pretty new to speedrunning, so idk how to name these runs (successful coaster%? bonus%? i have no clue). any suggestions?

the one positive thing though is that just dance 2021 wasn't registered under the just dance series, so maybe a new just dance 2021 can be requested that actually is under the jd series
