My sponsor for the new game had a lot of guidelines for me to follow that forced me to change certain aspects of the game. Regarding the speed, I was forced to use certain game dimensions, a certain framerate, and all of the X/Y values of assets like the player had to be rounded in order to keep the image crisp. That made it impossible for it to be the same as the original, and the player would either be too fast or too slow compared to the original. I don't think it's 2x slower, that might be some other issue at play, but I'm sure it is at least a bit slower. It seemed fine to me though. Maybe you are just really used to the old version so anything different seems really strange.

Unfortunately I'm not allowed to make any changes that break the guidelines they gave me so the speed will remain the same.

Those bugs you mentioned should be fixed though. I will forward them to the sponsor. Even though I programmed the game, I sold the code to them, so I'm not able to make changes at this point even to fix bugs.

Really cool that you speedrun the game and are #2 in the world! Since the level designs are different in this newest version, the times shouldn't be compared to the times of the original game, so it shouldn't matter competitively that the player speed is different. If you want to run the original game it's still on the internet on other websites. You can also download the flash file and run it locally will have less lag as well.
