Enter the cave and play until you receive wings. Once you have the item, head to the floor's staircase. Use the wings and move to the staircase tile at the same time (using the wings slightly before works better for me) which will overlap the text boxes. Go to the next floor and leave the cave. The text to use the wings is now stuck on your screen until you restart the game (you can even use the wings on the main menu). You can then load a new save file and be able to leave the cave whenever you desire (as long as you don't mind the large text box on the screen)
