Hello!
Making a bit of a blanket post here since this game has been getting a little more traffic lately and a few people have reached out to me and I don't respond as fast as I could.
If you've picked this game up recently and noticed that when you look at some leaderboard runs (mine included) it might look like my gameplay and some other runners is faster than yours or others.
The best explanation I have for this so far seems to be the frame rate at which the game is running.
I've since reinstalled this game on a new machine and seen the slow down a lot of new players are experiencing, with my game stuck running at a range of 43-48 FPS, which makes the game feel and look slow and sluggish. My old runs were done on an older (and much worse) PC at 60 fps, so this does not appear to be a hardware issue.
I have also had some people download the game from the steam page for the very first time recently and launch it and play at 60 FPS, so it is not some weird update to make the game slower that was pushed through, I assume.
I'm really not a tech guy so I don't know much more to do up to this point. It's my understanding a runner has reached out to the devs to see about getting this sorted out. If there is never any response I will consider adding a filter or category for the game being played at the lower FPS, but for now I want to be a bit patient in hopes that the devs will provide a fix to what I'm assuming is a bug.
If anyone finds a way to fix the issue and get the game back to running at 60 FPS consistently, please message me or post here.
I like this change. Being able to make the text a different color than the top bar would be nice though
these type of ideas work better if you already have the images made, and proposing they be added, rather than hoping someone else will do the work
What might bring in more people is active streams that a broader audience would be able to view to build interest, it might not. I dont get what youre goal is here, I understand competition can make speedruns more fun but this is literally what happens with every lesser known game. People who moderate leaderboards are there because they are trusted to verify the authenticy of submitted runs in a timely manner, not shove the idea of speedrunning a game down everyones throat, which doesnt help get people to run the game anyway in general
Feel free to join the Cruis'n Series community discord server here https://discord.gg/rKz6Pz6
I plan to contribute to routing 100% eventually, just not a priority for me at the moment
May I get my name changed to Boon_7 to match my recently changed twitch name, thank you :)
Yes, you can join here https://discord.gg/Ahj7HQV
Made a discord server for anyone learning, or interested in speedrunning any of the Cruis'n games. https://discord.gg/TKPCfaT :)
There is already a discovered way to go passed the gate, not necessarily clip through, but we do not press the switch to open the gate. However, There is no current way to clip into the ice castle, so that would be a very useful skip if found :)
I am not a very experienced runner, but I would say for just general learning to watch PvtCb's World record video, and for more specific help from more experienced runners, you could join the community discord server.
This video shows off all of the currently known uses of IWC that save time in speedruns. Some of the clips shown in the video are not used in runs or in certain categories because of a loss of beats required for crests, or because that particular trick is inconsistent.
If your proposing the idea that we add a level leaderboard, than I agree, but I don't quite understand what you mean by a new category. I definitely think a leaderboard for each mission/ world would be a good idea. On a side note, it's always great to see new runners joining the community :)
In order to perform IWC (infinite Wall Clap) you must have the bongo microphone set to "manual; notch 1 in the settings. After this, you need to jump into a wall, and blow into the microphone so DK is clapping every frame. Keep in mind this can only be done/ is useful on certain walls in the game. If you need more help or are interested in doing Donkey Kong Jungle Beat speedruns, you can message any of the leaderboard mods on twitch, or post here.
Hope this helps :)
well i think a 100% category should exist if someone would want to do it, but I'm sure if Ion hasn't done it in the past, he has no intention. I'm not speaking for anyone just my thoughts, although I think it would make for an interesting category.
