Hey there,

I'm trying to get the steam version of this running but I can't find a straight forward set of instructions for the configure settings for DOSbox. Looking it up is cluttered with with DX2 and DX2-Rebirth stuff. Does anyone have a simple set of instructions for the config to make sure it runs smoothly on a modern PC?

Also, is rebirth or XL useful? A lot of the online info about them assumes the reader already knows about Descent related tools so it is hard to follow what is compatible or useful/allowed for speedruns.

Any guidance on this would be welcome.

We can re-submit the 59 minute run if DrSakenomi wants, but it is an Any% run. Just because you find a skip doesn't mean that stuff before it isn't Any%.

I am not certain that we need a glitchless category. All of the current runs are Any% runs - they are just slower than the new strats you're talking about, but still Any%. If someone feels strongly they want to run a glitchless category we can cross that bridge when we come to it.

I tend to agree with you about menuing being dumb and painful. We can leave this comment up and make the change if there is no outcry after a while.

Hey there, thinking about taking a crack at this game. Any reason Fusion364 (Kega) is disallowed? I don't run a lot of Genesis titles but Fusion is allowed for Sonic 2 (as an example) so I assume it should be safe.

It has been a long while since I touched this speedrun but yes we did come up with a route. I worked with @DrSakenomi. The guides we put together are here: https://www.speedrun.com/saint_seiya_ougon_densetsu/guides

Sakenomi is in France and we discussed the run a bunch back then. One of the guides is my English-language translation of his French original. I made maps of the town and cave section which are there.
