It's really interesting to hear about a record from the Nintendo Power era, so nostalgic. The Strat you used looks pretty good; perhaps if the jump angle or landing point were optimized further, the community could find a way to descend lower and improve the time even more.

As far as I know, crackslides are still accepted in the 16-star category, as long as they don't violate the rules of the ranking system you're following. Mips clips are a more common and consistent method, so many runners use them, but crackslides can still be used if the run is valid according to community rules.

Recording with an external camera is acceptable, as long as the video is clear and the entire screen is visible throughout the gameplay.
