Hey if you actually watch the run you can see that at the first shop (around 2 minutes into the run) we do not have any items besides the one that dropped and the one that was crafted.

I think from a moderation standpoint a "no crystals used" category would be a nightmare. Are you really going to check every single run to make sure that no re-rolls were used throughout a 20-35 minute run? Considering how...relaxed, moderation has been so far I would say this is a bad idea.

I think the current distinction should be -

  1. Trinkets and Pre-run Inspirations NOT ALLOWED
  2. Trinkets NOT ALLOWED, Pre-run Inspirations ALLOWED
  3. Trinkets and Pre-run Inspirations ALLOWED

Remove all character categories and combine them into a option that can be selected to remove the bloat of the board. This fixes the multiplayer problem as you can just select which 2 characters were used. Sure some characters might be faster but a filter can be used to compare singular characters.

I think a "no crystals used" or a "no re-roll" category could in theory exist, but it would be a moderation headache and also not a very fun category to run. It would be extremely reset heavy at the beginning to find favorable ritual combinations instead of just re rolling for them.

Also to be clear I'm not saying that inspirations shouldn't be allowed, I'm saying that because it gives a clear advantage, it should be a separate category. I'm not here to tell anyone how to speedrun the game the way they want to. I just want everyone to have an even footing.

This is a non argument. Grind up as many crystals as you want, make a save file and use it for speedrunning.

-edit. Re-rolling for arcana happens DURING the run which counts against the total time, pre buying inspirations happens BEFORE the run and gives a clear advantage.

....so make a new category... I don't understand how you can believe a run that starts with no inspirations should be in the same category as one that does. I've stated many times, it completely changes the run. You made a mistake, so fix it by adding a new category.

Again, starting with inspirations should be a completely different category because it makes runs much easier and effects the overall run. Seems strange that every runner has been following the no inspiration run besides yourself, and you are now "allowing" them to be used. It clearly effects the run and should be noted. You yourself have mentioned that it buffs players. Move your runs to a separate category if you choose to continue running with inspirations before the run starts.

Starting with 3 inspirations makes most ordeals trivial and completely changes the power scaling of the run. It means anyone who starts with 3 inspirations has a clear advantage over those who dont.

At the very least there should be an option that shows a run started with inspirations as CaptainGordon suggested or a COMPLETELY different category because of the inherent advantage a 3 inspiration start gives.

Starting with 3 inspirations will shave MINUTES off of most runs, deciding to have them now be allowed (again without any community discussion) basically obsoletes any current run that does not start with 3.

Simply allowing Inspirations before runs will change the leaderboard completely, giving a huge advantage to runs that pre-buy inspirations making all runs that did NOT buy them basically obsolete. I really am not a fan of this change being randomly decided by you with no community feedback at all.

It doesn't effect gameplay at all, it simply makes the run more accessible. Crystals are unfortunately a big part of the run and a big time waste to grind.

Is it possible to combine the co op leaderboard into one category? Ideally 2 heroes would be selected to show which 2 were used in the run. Currently it is separated into 4 different categories where only 1 hero can be selected. Also the top "CO op" ordeal is misnamed, it should be called "Bonded Fate"

I'm going to go ahead and bump this thread again because the situation calls for it. A new run has become the WR because it has a faster IGT but is actually slower then my run in RTA by 3 seconds.

I've said it many times, but the IGT is not a reflection of the actual time of the run, RTA should be the standard. Everyone in this thread has agreed that RTA should be the standard but the current moderator has done nothing to address this issue.

Hello Absolum friends.  Today while doing runs I encountered something that I figure should be brought up.

I achieved a PB on the RTA timer that was 36 seconds faster then my previous PB’s RTA timer, but was somehow 1 second SLOWER on the In Game Timer (IGT).    I made a video that shows both runs side by side at 2x speed for reference.   As you can see in the video my newest run is much faster in real time then the previous run, but somehow the in-game timer says it is 1 second slower.   I believe this shows that the IGT is inaccurate and maybe not worth using.

Video-

I think that because the IGT is inaccurate compared to RTA and really isn't understood at the moment, everyone should be using a real timer to time and submit runs.  While the IGT is easier and more convenient, it shouldn't be the definitive way to time the run.  I hope to hear some thoughts from others about this.

No it just simply doesn't follow the rules that the one moderator decided the rules should be, but it is approved anyway.

The phase skip can be done with any throwable in the game, its just a matter of timing it correctly. Cider's spider mines also work. Having echo arcana certainly helps, but its not needed. If you want to see an example I get it in almost all of my current PB's. Here is a timestamped example in my current Cider Warp PB using meat -

lmao. Yeah I actually never realized everyone else is just.... turning the portals off?

There really should be a rework/rewrite of some category rules with input from the entire community, however small it is.

Nebraska, USATeleo11 year ago

As habeebs said. The runner decided to step away from RTA/speedruning and made the decision to delete and remove all their runs off the boards. All runs were legitimate.

Nice, this is a known thing that zed found quite a long time ago, if you look through old forum posts for the megadrive version you can see it. Unfortunately it generally wont save time because you will have to wait for the bat patterns, unless you get a lucky bat that will boost you past the gauntlet.

This is not an emulator error. Pressing a diagonal will give a neutral input resulting in no movement. While holding down it is impossible to change directions before standing again.

You just shift dependence onto the lobber drop instead of the spreader. This game by nature is very random.
