United StatesHello! The closest thing we have seen recently is a Boss Rush meme category, where you can beat all the bosses in any order you want from a new file.
There is not an official leaderboard for it yet, but if players like the idea we could add it.
Yo, the rules were recently (like, early 2021 i think) rewritten to have timing start when you press the button to begin a race or cup. Old run's time's have yet to be updated with the timing difference between starting the run on "GO!" and starting the run on entering the race. My bad on that, I forgot that those need to be updated at some point!
To clarify, the problem is not that our mods do not know how to make an Emu category. It's part of a larger discussion about whether or not Emu should be allowed on the leaderboard, one that's been taking place over a very long period of time. There's a myriad of reasons why we should or should not allow it, but at the end of the day it's up to the mods to decide.

While an emulator board would create less of a barrier to entry, mods would need to mandate what emulator people are allowed to play on, which is very difficult to verify. N64 runs are very clearly N64 runs because of the massive difference in lag and visuals.
That said, there's no reason you can't still speedrun DKR on emu without submitting to a leaderboard. Emu is still a good way for beginners to learn mechanics, technique, and tricks.
