Welcome to speedrunning! Any video quality is fine, but if you're just starting out as long as your time isn't under ~20 minutes you don't have to worry about video proof. Hello I am a fellow Mario sports game speedrunner (mainly of Mario Super Sluggers) and I had an idea for a category that could be interesting. All Gold Cups would be beneficial because it adds another element of difficulty to a relatively simple to understand speedrun, as it requires you to have a point differential of at least 200 points in each of your wins. I think this makes it more interesting to the runner and also more interesting to the viewer, as you have to strategize how to score 200 points as quickly as possible while also playing good defense on harder opponents instead of scoring only one or two baskets per game. I would do runs of the category myself if there needs to be some sort of testing involved. If you don't want any more categories also that is totally fine I just wanted to start running this game and I saw it lacked a category reminiscent of a "100%" and thought it would be cool. There's so much discrepancy with that kind of category. You could pick a completely incompetent team to play against and vice versa for yourself. This category would also ultimately come down to getting a one inning mercy rule of the team, eliminating the need to play all 9 innings in the first place. We'd need to come up with a very strict set of rules, and I think that's kind of the opposite of what most people would want. Not making it a category for now, sorry!

to be fair, this tournament is pretty much dead. did you message him on Twitter/Twitch? I'm 99% sure that he forgot this forum post even exists and wouldn't have thought to look for it there. if you did, then cool. if not, I think you should at least give him time to respond to messages on the platforms I listed.

nah it never did, I just learned by watching Icarus's then-WR. You could learn the route my watching any of the top 3's runs :)

Just as a thought, maybe we should have JUST the Any% tournament for now and then have the other categories as tournaments maybe later in the summer. I think it might be better to focus on the one big tournament rather than 3 smaller tournaments. Any% has the most entrants thus far anyway, and we would still do the others at a later date.

I'm not trying to be rude in the slightest, but would it be okay if one of the mods (me or otherwise) organized the tourney? We would only be pushing it back by a few days or so, so we could come up with some guidelines and such that we think work out the best (i.e. the issue of video proof, etc.). We'd be considering everyone involved when making the rules, and I just want to make it fair for everyone. Thanks!

I think that an Island Flyover 100% category would be a lot of fun. You'd have to route where and how to get all of the i-Points as fast as possible, and what paths would be efficient to take in doing so. It'd be something I'd love to do a run of :P

Thanks Sniper and Dylan! I'm definitely interested in seeing the partially completed route, I'd at least like to see what there is so far so I could possibly use it and/or rework it based on preferences and stuff. Send me the route if you want, I'm hoping to get into this category soon :D

Was looking into running this category and was wondering if there was a definitive fastest way to get all the characters. I know it's a hard thing to create quickly but if there's some sort of general direction I should take (like which park to got to first, etc.), I'm interested to hear. Thanks in advance, and looking forward to running this game more in the future :D
