Never heard of him either but then again I don't play minecraft. If its gotten to the point where people are doing things they shouldn't do on this site maybe its about time you get the site moderators involved. They can clear situations like this up in seconds if things like that are happening on this site through private messages or on the forums.
In addition to the area 51 game I posted there are quite a few dan maku bullet hell shmups out there for free all you have to do is search google. Although shmups themselves don't make for great speedruns you can still technically run them.

Area 51 from 2005 its abandonware now and its a free first person shooter. Its very good to, think doom 3 but with aliens. Don't forget to download the update patch or the game will crash.
Same, I'm a retro gamer mostly arcade games/console. I love platformers a lot like rockman no constancy (megaman 2 rom hack) and even platformers like a nightmare on elm street. It's hard to decide on what games to do so I normally do deathless/no damage playthroughs with every once in a while working on speedruns that I love to do.
Some of those super mario rom hacks are very hard and unforgiving. :) Wish you all the best luck in your speedruns, never give up!

Welcome to the forums. I'd recommend watching pro runs off youtube/twitch to discover speedrunning strats/glitches for the games that you want to run. Also, like another user already said, its important to check out the game forum for the games you want to know more about. Plenty of them also might have guides which could go into great detail about how to perform various glitches.
You could use both if you wanted to; emulation and console. I mostly use emulation but that's just me. :) For NES I use fceu emulator, snes I use snes9x, and for MAME arcade games I use different emulators. ShmupMAME is great because of accuracy and zero latency and is probably the best MAME emulator if you want to get as close to the actual arcade cabinets as possible. I also use wolfmame (anti-cheat emulator) and mameui as well as mameppk so it varies. Also each game on this site has different rules so don't forget to ask moderators on their respected forums for what the rules are. Some emulators are banned while others are accepted for one game while its the exact opposite for other games. Remember that rules vary. Hope this helps and I'm not sure about using flashcarts.
Right now I'm watching some resident evil tribute videos. I found a tribute to my favorite resident evil character, Leon Kennedy. :) This is a must watch.
Forgot to mention I also love black russians. Its a coffee liquor/vodka mix. Very good.. well if you like alcohol that is :) Has a strong taste to it but its nice.
Yea, its technically easy to build your own rig but at the same time its intense because you love doing it so much. PC Gaming back in the day was very expensive around 2002 and 2003. I remember spending around $1200 for a good rig and of course gpu's and mobos/processors back then were expensive its not like it is today where you can get a good budget build for half that.
Thanks for checking out my youtube and it depends really on the game itself as far as consistency goes. Some games are impossible to do that everytime and you just have to get a lucky run in.
About twingalaxies, yes you both are correct. But its not just billy mitchell (technically he played fair without using save states, he just didn't play on a verifiable arcade board and instead I guess was caught using the emulator MAME), it's the fact that there were a number of other people on that site that were caught cheating like todd rogers having refs enter fake high scores into the database and some refs verifying their own runs. What people tend to forget is it's not just Twin Galaxies it's also players on SDA and people have been caught on here before cheating by splicing runs or doing other things. Still, i wouldn't say it ruins any sites good name and reputation, it's just that there are always going to be players that don't play fair. :( There are games I've done without losing a life that were beaten pretty quick (although I never labeled mine as speedruns), on the arcade like crime city and 1944 the loopmaster (very few people can get the 1 credit clear on this game) while on here they were allowed to spend as many credits as they wanted to by spamming bombs just to clear the game faster. I thought that the universal rules of competitions were 1 credit per run for console/arcade?

I can see myself speedrunning into my 60s lol. I've had arthritis in my hands and wrists since I was in my late 20s (boxing didn't help with that either) and now at 35 I been doing a lot of strength training and the arthritis seems to be gone which is good news. I think I remember the first GDQ ever in mike's moms basement. SDA started out as a doom and quake speedrunning site for first person shooters if I remember. Does anybody here know the year that GDQ first started? I know its come a long way but its too bad that things like censorship on GDQ marathons kind of ruined the spirit of why we do what we do. Of course, that's just my own personal opinion. I'm glad to see that the european speedrunning marathons don't have censorship and its basically free speech. I know not everyone will agree with me but its just one mans opinion. I still love GDQ and respect what they are doing out there, but its just too bad things became more corporate over the years. :( Thought i'd make a reply though and wish everyone the best on their speedruns. :)
Age doesn't matter to a degree, some young and really smart people have accomplished some very noteworthy feats. :) However, the older you get, the better you get. Kind of like in boxing (a sport I really love), the more that you hit the heavy bag the stronger you can punch for example and when you get into the ring you learn to take those shots (its much more complexed than this I know with the right dieting, exercise, footwork, styles etc). In your 20s and 30s etc. you're going to get much better in gaming or anything that you do then when you were younger. You just have to keep at it like with anything else that you do in life. The older that you get the smarter and wiser you become and we as a society have been taught this time and time again.
