Well I don't have many other things to say, the situation all explains by itself.
We'll try to give you some challenge the day you beat our time, but I have to admit that knowing we lose time and we can't do anything about it has completely saped our motivation.
It will allow us to make a break and come back on PC, with I hope no problems this time.
So :
- Deleting the cache,.... doesn't work, but we already did that in the past.
- Getting more space on the HDD doesn't work too.
- Playing on Ethernet, rather than WiFi doesn't change anything.
The only factors that can explain our slow loadings are :
- The disc version is slower AND/OR
- Our bad connections AND/OR
- NTSC is faster than PAL, at least for loadings.
And atm we don't have much money to spend in games, so we can't do anything about it. So no more NG+ for us, on console at least, and the day you beat us on NG, we'll see depending if your time is too far in front or not.
As I said, as long as some want to do it, it's ok for me.
BUT, I just watched your chapter snow, and I think that it's bad to see those editings at the points you made them. I'd rather see a segmented chapter that looks exactly like a SS chapter. When you open a door, and boom we see the inventory menu, it looks ugly. You could've cutted the inventory menu, so that when you open the door, there's just a normal loading and after it you continue your progress.
That's my thought, because I don't wanna see unsmooth replays of the best times.
I know, but I talk about a full segmented run, that contains menus, etc... SS runs are RTA, that's why I asked you that.
The thing is that retrying at a checkpoint implies that the loading time following that reset will be faster.
Does that mean you'd like Segmented runs to be IGT? Because RTA might be a bit fucked.
Some other points I wanna figure out : 1-1 Executioner : Do you have guys a 100% reliable setup to make him move right away? We just can't do it consistently, and ice or flash grenades don't change much to it. To say, our best chances to make it work is by getting grabbed, and we make it like 1/10 times. We tried every strat I saw in these leaderboards.
LOADING TIMES ! These days we're trying NG+, and I remarked that we lose a huge lot a time during loadings compared to Snow/Outrage run. Is there a reason to that? I can make a quick video to show you difference if needed. This doesn't happens everywhere, but I'm talking about 2 seconds for each wrong loading. Atm I saw 2 critical points : Loading before fighting Irving, and Loading before fighting Wesker. There is no way we can beat Snow/Outrage run in these conditions (even our SoB is behind your time lel) . Did you play on LAN? Or with a digital copy? or maybe it's just brief lags that are messing up loadings. Will investigate a bit more.
EDIT a few minutes later : In fact we lose time on every loading. Sometimes it's equivalent, sometimes it's like a tenth, and sometimes it's 2 seconds (after Irving for example now). Bullshit game strikes again.
EDIT2 : I noticed that we lose a lot of time in NG too Kappa . Seriously it it NTSC that makes a difference?
Seg runs haven't been forbidden all the time, so it's just showing it. I won't do any seg run on this game, I don't see the point of doing it because we have ILs to combine. But if some want to do them I don't see any problem. Be careful to separate clearly SS and seg runs tho, because if someone gets a faster than SS WR time, he can't just say "Hey I'm WR holder", at least by comparing to SS.
I didn't know about RE5 differencies between PAL and NTSC....
So I can't say what's easier or not, but what I can say for sure is that with current strats, 1:39 is clearly the farthest we can go on PAL (1:38 with 1 cycle gigante).
Also, Wesker is clearly a bullshit for us too. On 5-3 we tried some times ago to get the quick kill, but we've never done it. On the 6-3 fight, it's bs too, and it's even bigger. I always play Chris, and I'd say it works 1 of 3 or 4 attempts (for 1st try). Sometimes he doesn't get stun after 3-4 rockets, and the funniest fact is that Wesker is a racist Kappa . Why? My mate Mitsuko, who always plays Sheva, has litterally NEVER been able to do it. We spent a lot of time to learn it, (because as some may remember on our previous run we didn't tried the quick kill) and he just never made it. I reviewed videos, I tried to watch as much as possible his inputs, but nothign to it, so it became evident that I had to do it, even with the failure risk.
Some times ago I watched many runs (NG and NG+), to see some new techs, etc... and I saw that ennemies had mostly the same patterns. Maybe NTSC has something to do with it, but you can do 1:39, we can do 1:39. If you have enough money to play on a PAL console, try it and give us your feedbacks.
Also, another point I wanna talk, is that Capcom has officialized RE5 for XboxOne and PS4 for this summer. Of course we have to pay for this shit again, I won't and Mitsuko doesn't even have a One. Do you guys plan on running it when it'll be out? We (me and mitsuko) plan on switching to PC when I'll have a good PC (so I'd say before the end of the year), so we won't buy a One version at the same time ^^
That's why IGT has been set to secondary, no? RE5 IGT is only playing time, menus aren't counted in it. It's just another information, to know if we gained/lost time during playing phase or during menus.
And that's sad for the splitter, could've been helpful.
For no save runs, you just have to record your run and then calculate your IGT manually. This is what we (Me&Mitsuko, but also Auddy & Snow I suppose) do on console already.
Of course IGT would allow us, console players, to compare with PC runs, but I still don't want it. Inventoring is a huge part of the game, mostly in NG but also in NG+ (despite the fact that we don't do inventoring during the run we still go through this menu).
So, we could either keep the situation as it is now, or we could manually calculate our time without loadings, but it could be insanely hard, so not an option.
Is there any way to get the autosplitter to console version? Like by making it go through the capture card?
You can explain a bit more your idea Snow ? Cause I'd like to know what you're talking about for "an easy grading system".
Maybe you can do an autosplitter that counts the gameplay + inventories, and doesn't count only loading times. (which doesn't includes cutscenes). So it "stops" during each load.
It has already been decided in the past that RTA was the way to go. Not counting Loading times on PC seems legit for me (although I don't run on PC yet), but we can't remove anything else to the final timer.
So yeah, when it'll gonna be a bit more stable/advanced, why not playing it casually. But speedrun-wise, it doesn't seem as a necessity to include it, although I think that later we could just play some "casual" races on this and other games, to keep this very little community in one block.
I'd say, why not?
Although I won't play it at the moment (motivation, time...), I might give it a look when it will be in a better stage than now ( it's an alpha, with crashes, many modifications to add,....)
The thing is that I don't know if this is gonna be a whole new game, or just what we could call 'a huge patch'. If this is the first choice, then it could be really interesting to re-start the routing from nearly 0. If the changes for the run should be just the cars used, or thing like that, I'm not sure that there is gonna be enough motivation / hype to re-run it.
It "may" be useful in the run, to get more agressive strats and don't wait to have unlocked everything.
I know it's tough, I've been quite tired just after playing stage 5 today. Just need to be prepared. I had no tuning, but with gamepad. If you play with keyboard, you should try pad, i find it way easier (maybe because I'm a console player). I screwed up the drifts because I was doing shit, but I think it's totally possible to get clean drifts without problems.
I'm playing hard mode. Your run is in hard mode and is good, so I think that it's fair to also play on hard. Easy can be done later, without any other preparation we've done on hard.
Yup I know, but as I said before I can't assign anything to my right stick, and I want the hydraulics to be there. I don't understand why it doesn't work that's annoying.
And I drove stage 5 today, and ther's one sure thing : I'll never buy the Golf. For me, the Corolla is totally fine for mountain drifts, it's not a too big deal to score big points with it. Another minute saved, at least.
