Hey, I'm just gonna gauge interest and verify this won't be a problem before I go and remake this thing. At one point while I was working on Shuffle in relation to the preservation mod, I ended up making a mod that was specifically tailored for full game runs. The mod just changed the NHN24 in the special shop to be free and usable 7 times a week (I forget if DRI was included in the effect, however that itself is also an option here to make farming less bad for categories longer than stage 150. We can't use DRI + this shop item anyways, so it doesn't change anything relating to special shop decisions, it just makes things less unbearable if a farm is required.) I was wondering if this would be something anyone was interested in so that full game runs that aren't just in SM are actually viable.
I need to fix the early game stages compared to preservation mod, since those had broken coin amounts, and can even entirely block specials if that is what is decided to be ruled here, however I wanted to bring this up, given this is literally the exact reason I ever made that mod in the first place. I think that even if this is limited to just 3DS, it would allow for a lot more options for categories in this game. I personally was planning to run a stage 150 speedrun regardless of leaderboards existing (I am working on getting a 3DS capture card, however NTRViewer is an option for those without on new 3ds), so I figured I'd give the option regardless.
Not sure if it'd ever be useful, but I found out that during the second Topman star (The one in Dreadnaught), if you die to a mine during the pull star segment, and catch yourself on a pull star presumably far away enough on your way back down, and still break out and fall back to the starting planet, on rare occasions you can start walking around with 0 health. One more hit and you still die though. I died before I could do much to see if anything happens... to one of the mines. (I'm bad lol)
I'm been doing a casual first playthrough as of recently, and had a bit of an oddity with collecting the Shine Sprite in Pirates Grotto in the room with the save block (The one that is in front of a ledge you can walk on top of, said area also had a stream running on top of that ledge.)
Basically, what happened was, since I didn't know how to get it I attempted a ground pound, which obviously failed, might have tried hammering it, but what I did to get it was walk off the ledge on the left side of the block, and somehow collected it. I wasn't aware the invisible block was in that room till much later and noticed this wasn't used in the current WR for 100%, so I'm assuming its either known and inconsistent or this is new. This was on the US release of the game. Unfortunately I can't really remember what else I did if anything I did beside walking off the ledge next to it.
I'm trying to learn the skip for Tails' Ice Key but I can't find any decent tutorials, I can get the skip but not nearly consistent enough to use it in a run. Can someone please give me some advice on how to do this more consistently?
Can anyone please tell me how you're able to control the boomerang so well that you can hit multiple targets on the return swing, I can't find enough information and imitating other peoples runs isn't help, is it a version thing or something, or is there something I'm missing on the control?
