This thread is kind of an excuse to post this clip, but if we find other glitches, interesting or not for the speedrun, we can post them here.
I haven't explored this pause glitch yet, I haven't even analyzed how it happened, but I know pause glitches can easily break games, so it'd be nice to take a closer look at it.

Hey!
When it comes to the Woodle Tree series, I'm mainly a Woodle Tree 2: Deluxe+ runner. I've always thought this game needed a base for the community, to gather discussions around the game and welcome new runners.
After thinking about it, not only I've decided to be the one to create the server, but also extend it to the entire franchise! I think everyone would benefit from it. I've made categories and channels for every games of the series.
Here is the invitation link, leaderboard mods are free to add it on their SRC page:

Hello!
After getting a new PB, I messed up with elevators and the zoom momentum glitch (Still don't know the real name of it), to see if I could find some time saves, and I definitely discovered some interesting stuff.
The first two clips are done with elevators you can't reach before they start going up (Or it's really hard, like the second one). They could save a lot of time, by skipping many sequences and making you go straight to where you need to kill enemies, but they don't feel consistent. Most of the time, you'll get ejected to the left. I still want to post the clips, to see if we can make something out of them.

This one though is more interesting, because it's more consistent to get the massive upward momentum. Since the brown lies have an hitbox, you can place yourself behind the one on the left and the wall. There is still a chance you'll just clip in the wall, so it's not 100% consistent, but it's still easier to pull of.
In this clip, I reached the ice slide, by using the Glide -> Unglide -> Attack -> Glide sequence, but maybe you can get even higher. I don't know why I've never seen anyone trying this, because I believe it could be a time save for the Snow Mountain area (Even with the fact you need to activate the elmevator), we'll just need to time it. If we use this in a run, we should go to the summit first, then drop down the the isolated tear, and go activate the gate to reach the first tear of the area.

I hope you'll find that interesting.
btw I'm using this opportunity to let you know that I'm interested in doing a Woodle Tree series speedrunning Discord. I think those speedgames would really benefit from having a dedicated Discord, so we could help new runners, do centralized theory-crafting, etc...
Hello everyone!
I've discovered both 100 Pumpkins games thanks to Graeldon's Steam Sequence series on YT (This video).
When I looked up on SRC if they were there, I was surprised to see the sequel was already there, but not the first game. So I put it in my backlog. It took a while, but I finally managed to run it on stream yesterday, after a few off-stream routing sessions.
It was fun to route, but it's also a very difficult run to optimize (My PB is far from perfect, even though I think it's a good first effort). It has few neat tricks, like use of invincibility frames to get through slow cycles, Death Warping, and "Fast Climbing" (On a controller, when climbing a vine, if you input up or down on both analog stick and D-pad, you are gonna climb faster. I don't know if you can do something similar on keyboard. Also, it's not working when walking).
I'm making a thread for that, because I think some of you can be interested to look at the run, and maybe trying it. Here is the SRC page: https://www.speedrun.com/100_Pumpkins
(I also played the sequel casually. It's even better, but I remember not feeling as motivated to run it during this initial playthrough ^^' I'll take a second look at the run and see if I change my mind.)
Hello!
I'm considering running this game soon. I've played this game for the first time about 20 years ago, derusting it from time to time, and I feel like it's time for me to give its speedrun a try.
Before that, I checked some ressources, like Aszaxa's GameFAQs guide. Here it's stated that difficulties don't change anything about the game. I was wondering if anyone had the same experience, and if there were experimentations to verify it.
If difficulties don't make a difference, I don't feel like doing seperate categories for them makes sense, and regrouping all runs would be better (Maybe keeping the difficulty chosen by the runner in a variable, like for the character choice).
I know this is the first time I'm interacting with the Fighting Masters' speedrunning community, and I'm just learning advanced techs about the game, but I still feel it would be good to have this discussion. If difficulty doesn't matter, regrouping all runs would help making things clearer.
Hello!
I'm surprised to see there is no IL leaderboard for any of the bonus content you can unlock. I'm talking about the following list:
-
Pengu Blast
-
Flow Star Rush
-
Sky Dancer
-
Kiwi World
-
Beeny World
(I'm not counting the card game, as it's not very suitable for speedrun)
I thought there would be fun ILs categories, which would also differ from the regular levels.
Hello!
Ben 10 Battle Ready is one of many Cartoon Network flash games of my childhood, and I'd love to replay it. More than that, I'd like to have more fladh games in my speedrunning resume (Out of 79, only 3 are flash games, and I've streamed only one, which is Furfur and Nublo). Battle Ready has always been in a corner of my mind when it comes to flash game speedrunning, so I want to give it a new try before choosing to run it or not.
So I downloaded it on Flashpoint, but it doesn't work. I realized it's because Shockwave games are getting harder to run on PCs. I tried few solutions gathered on the Internet to make this game work (Which should also work for other Shockwave games), but nothing really worked. The best result I had was to download zip files from this link: https://archive.org/details/ProjectorSkeletonForAdobeDirector12.0.0.111
But it always get stuck when trying to click on "Play" after skipping the textboxes.
As they are propably experts of this case here, since you are running the games, I'm guessing you could help me to make it work on my side. I'd really appreciate it :)
Hello!
I wanted to join the speedrunning Discord of this game, since I'd like to run ILs eventually (Can't tell yet when I'll do it, my streaming schedule has been random this year), but it says the link is invalid. Does the Discord still exists, and if so, I'd like to have the link for it if possible
This is something I'm not sure yet if it would work, but we need to do some testing.
In order to access one of the fragments, you need to activate the Map.
During one of my runs, I was able to skip the tutorial accidently, probably by spamming the M key. I thought at that time I would get a huge timesave.
The problem (Which you won't see in the clip below) is, when I collected the last key fragment, and when the pop-up for the Synthesized Key appeared, the game, instead of letting me press any key to close the pop-up, invited me to press M key, to do the Map tutorial. Ultimately I lost time, so I resetted.
Maybe there is a way to skip the Map tutorial the first time, and then a second time when you have the Synthesized Key pop-up spawning. Maybe spamming the M key correctly in both instance would make it doable, and make this skip viable.
This are some theories I'm posting here, in case some people want to investigate that case. I'm not sure I'll be able to test it soon, because I have other routing work to do on other games.
One last bonus thing, unrelated to this potential skip: I was able to skip a ledge grab once, during one of my attempts. If we can find a way to understand how it works, and make it somewhat consistent, it could be a way to save few seconds in the entire run (For such a short run, we have to take all possible time saves!).
Here is the clip of when the skip happened:
Hi! Just made the leaderboard for this game. So far, I've only made categories for the different versions (Remastered, Original and Mobile), but I know they might be other categories in the future. I'm doing this thread, to post the ideas, and maybe in the future, we will discuss if they are good ideas or not.
-
There could be a separation between Any% and "Saving all Frogs", since there is an achievement for saving all of them, at least on Steam. I'm not sure how many frogs you can save in each version (I know it's 11 in Remastered), so I can't do a category for it yet (I would need to know the amount of frogs to save on every versions). Also, I think the run would need some development before adding such a category, because there is still a possibility that saving all frogs is an optimized strat for Any%. So this category seems to be the most obvious potential idea, but I think we need time before adding it, or not.
-
There is a co-op mode on the Remastered version. I haven't tried it, but it could also be another category for the future, if some people show some interest for it.
Hello!
After deciding that I should stop procrastinate about it, I finally created a Discord for our speedrunning community!
It's a place to hang out with other members of the community, discuss about the run, post your achievements, and also your findings (This game is so glitchy, I'm sure they are a lot of stuff to find which could make the run even more exciting, or just could be fun glitches). I hope it will help making this community larger too!
Here is the permanent link for the server: https://discord.gg/MCqwC9ygvE
I've created a community Discord for speedrunning on this game, since they might be new runners joining soon! Don't hesitate to join, if you want to talk more about the game and exchanging strats! https://discord.gg/qWcRX3mTBN
Hello!
There is run pending since almost 2 weeks, which claims to be a new WR on Any% Bad Ending (on Steam version). In this run, you can see a brand new glitch being used, which takes place before timer starts. From what I understand, you go in the Time Attack mode, on level 8, you activate the first zone where you can change dimension, and you exit the level just after. Once you start the run on level 1, you spawn later than usual in the level, you are already on the last dimension, and on few levels after, you can still change dimension as much as you want (Like on the glitch used in Any% True Ending).
Since you are doing the glitch before the timer starts, I don't know what to do with that, since I can't find of another example of my knowledge of such glitch being legal in another speedrun community. That's why I'd like to know your opinion about this glitch, before I do anything with the run.
Here is the run if you want to take a look:
Hello! Since ntzm is not very active on SRC anymore, I'm looking for a new moderator, preferably one of the top 3 runners in Any% (Nihen, 1Kick234 and trenchmarian). I currently have a pending run, and I don't want to auto-verify runs on a board with other runners. Don't hesitate to respond if you are interested. The board is not having a lot of activities lately, so you won't be very busy anyway!
Thanks to triple jump discovered by MrDoublePlays, you can skip the mini-boss in Battlefield area! It seems a bit precise if you want to do it perfectly, while not taking a hit. It can be used on both Any% and 100%, but it will save more time in Any%, because you didn't have Fire Aspect to defeat the mini-boss.
The origin of this glitch was this clip, happening during a usual run attempt. I was able to jump out of the water somehow, even though the particles effect of the water appeared.
So I wanted to see if it's possible to implement it in a real run, and I'm pretty sure it will be useful to save few seconds! If you spam the jump button, you can jump out of the water, and it can allow you to reach some ledges without waiting for log's cycles. Maybe you can to this glitch with a precise input timing, but I'm not confident to do that for now ^^'
More informations here:
I guess it will make me come back to Any% at some point :)
