One of the runners replaced some puzzle elements to make it easier to read and solve, and I rejected that run since it was an unfair advantage over non-modified runs. Replacing the overworld textures should probably be fine, but changing anything that gives you an edge over the other runners, such as any puzzle pieces, is not okay.
If you want a Half-Life 2 mod added, it is recommended to have at least two runners in the mod before it can happen. If you can get another person to run it (like me for instance), I'll add the mod. You can contact me through Discord: lyren
@indexsensei no updates, Msushi has stopped responding since February and MPy doesn't want to moderate the Portal side of this. Essentially there is no moderation for the Portal side. I don't like how moderation is done for this game and that is why I unmodded myself from super mod (altho MPy wanted me to stay as a mod).
I don't honestly know who to contact since I've kept Msushi as the #1 decision maker since the beginning. This is also why there is no in-game time added to the leaderboards as he wanted it to stay as RTA only. But at this point when he has been radio silent for over half a year now, I would discuss in Portal Discord or SourceRuns Discord who to add as a new mod/super mod to handle the decisions for the Portal side as well, and after that contact MPy to add them as a mod here.
I would say whatever the other, possible runners prefer. It could also be separated if there are runs of both. Currently, all the runs have been glitchless.
Is the rule section too unclear? I thought it tells you what the winning conditions are. I can update them if that's the case.
The message has been passed to Msushi.
Never. Encouraging banning would encourage annoying others and toxicity should not be put on a pedestal. Besides that, categories that depend on other, random people are almost never made due to being too random anyway, for example in CSGO there is no category for "fastest competitive match" for the same reason.
- Maximize your distance
- Crouch
I use coordinates to help me line up here - I stand at -6500 - you are at -6438 so I recommend being a bit further back. I also stand as right as I can so I can do the biggest circlestrafe possible.
Immediately, or even before you start holding A, start crouching. You want to be fully crouched at the end of your circlestrafe. This way you have a lower moving speed which results in a bigger ahop, but also simultaneously you are closer to the explosion, resulting in a bigger damage boost.
If you want to start a run from a specific chapter, you can use the new SourceSplit ( https://www.speedrun.com/hl2ce/news/3625 ) to make it completely automatic.
- Press Edit Splits
- Press Settings
- Under Main Functions, mark the check box "Also Auto-Start when"
- Starting a New Game on this map: d2_coast_01
The name of the map is the first map of the chapter you want to run. You can check the map name by writing "status" to the console, or displaying it with cl_showfps 1.
I have the same issue with my laptop. I don't think there's a workaround for that.
Some doors can do this, as the prop gets stuck between the door frame & the door. That might've been used in some segmented runs before, somewhere...
I don't think they preserve the supercharged state though as the train does.
This is already known(1), and with this train, it's completely useless(2) since all categories (except 100%) skip the under-bridge map entirely, which is needed to spawn the train.
There's another train like this in canals_01, but carrying a prop to a location where a launch like this would be useful is too slow since it takes more time to carry a prop than the launch will benefit you.
(1) At least the first part of this glitch is known. The fact that the object preserves the state even after the initial stuck is something I have not seen before, that's cool.
(2) It's one of these very niche tricks that could be useful in one of the hundreds of Half-Life 2 mods out there, so it's better to not forget about this glitch completely, but it is also unlikely to see any use of it.
Times are timed with RTA. I always wanted IGT to be the main timing method, but Msushi wants it to stay RTA. I could add a second column for IGT though, but the leaderboard would be ordered by RTA still.
Vault saves are not allowed.
The run was invalid, as ArkanLite used a start save for the run, which is currently banned for all Multiple Valve Games categories. However, he is going to run it more in the future, and I saw someone else in Twitch run it as well, so there will be runs on it.
There's been interest on Valve Series from people as well, and since those runs include both Portal & Portal 2, I can see them posting that half of the run to Portal Series as well.
Won't be added; after a day of runs it cannot be optimized further and there's no competition after that. The rules would be impossible to define too with GMod's addons & map selection.
As for crash%, you can easily crash a Source game in 0ms, so no.
Updates: I discussed with the person who made the addon and the cl_showpos does indeed show velocity now, and should be enabled by default now to ease the verification.
On top of that, I split gm_melonrace & gm_melonrace_redux.
