Understood, so similar sequence breaking is now banned in the NMG category.
I also want to mention that the door-opening and ladder-climbing animations with the character’s hands visible are NPC scripts, and they occur pretty often. I have seen other speedrunners unintentionally trigger NPC animation near a ladder, and it saved them a little bit of time. But that's not their fault, developers made the game this way.
As for the trees, that’s just a rendering bug and it doesn’t affect the gameplay.
I know this game is already 15 years old and that most people have forgotten about it, but while learning the game I came across a question I'd really like to get an answer to.
In No Major Glitches category, going out of bounds is banned. However, because game is full of weird mechanics, it's possible to skip certain sections without actually breaking that rule.
I discovered something that, surprisingly, no one seems to have talked about. You can trigger many NPC actions, including opening about half of doors in game yourself. In some cases, this actually lets you skip entire sections, including the stealth segment shown in this video.
Should rules for this category be expanded to forbid triggering NPC actions, such as opening doors yourself, or should things stay as they are? Technically, this skip doesn't violate current rules, so I could use it in my run.
I don't know how unbalanced the weapons in the dlc are. But I'm also not sure whether they'll even affect speedruns.
I knew about this and deleted them in advance. It should be mentioned in rules that custom levels also affect game and should be removed. Only in my opinion unsubscribe was enough. I have to check if checking cache will make a difference or not.
Apparently this action is being performed for a long time, after a few hours the message really updated.
I seem to be having trouble editing and deleting my posts. Despite fact that the site shows that these messages have been edited or deleted, in fact this does not happen and after refreshing the page, messages return to their original form as if nothing had happened. These changes do not occur for at least 20 minutes. But I noticed that if you add a new message, edits will be made.
Sorry for translated English.
It can greatly reduce scale of the screen in the game, and since scope of enemies gaze depends on the scale, you can literally finish the game without using weapons, using only fists. I personally checked it and you can do it too by changing this setting to +2.
In my opinion, setting Zoom level offset breaks the game a lot and makes speedrun very simple.
I suggest to create a separate category with this setting along with custom difficulty and mutators, and ban Zoom level offset on the main category. Or just ban this setting if you want.
(I'm writing because worried that my WR will be broken with this rubbish).
