You're right! I forgot about consistent platforms. Core overhaul really should make this much better. Now we just need to be able to skip that dreadful cutscene in Ascension before Core :p
Also, in addition to noskip%, an 100% category where you get all dialogue could be good (without Nonkey Jong...), albiet a bit gimmicky
Yeah! Luckily, I spent hours upon hours running this, so I have plenty of reference videos.
The purple patches are what I aim for as reference points.
The second video (labelled 2) shows one where I didn't hit the first purple area quite right, so I buffered to land on the second patch in the right way.
You can see in the first video just how forgiving the window is--once you've gotten the strategy down.
Hope this helps. I have more clips and could probably make a new one where I look down; just so you can see where exactly I'm landing.
You need to coyote jump off the ledge, meaning you have to land and move off the platform for less than 1/10th of a second. The easiest way I've found (after dozens of attempts) is aim for the middle window of the building near the bridge, and bhop to the closest purple-y patch near the ledge, jump to the purple-y patch and then aim for the little protrusion (like you did) and wait to jump just a tiny, tiny bit so you nearly fall off, then jump.
Your route should also work (and may be a bit quicker), but you need to make sure to wait a tiny bit before you jump the last time
It takes a LONG time, especially trying to pull it off during a run, but once you can get it consistently and know how to do it, it seems much more forgiving than you would think. [I'm sure you know this but] Once you get past the really hard jump, you don't have to keep bhopping, the game doesn't save a respawn point there. You can line up the jump much better than this one.
The best thing I can recommend is just keep practicing and seeing what others are doing. I could post a video of me making the jump if you need.
Happy speedrunning!
