NorwayThe rules are now updated so that people don't have to touch the treasure to submit multiplayer speedruns. - It's very strange the game can lag to make the time slower for some players, but this rule change should hopefully help in letting people submit accurate multiplayer times for individual levels
by "Currently" i mean that it was previously not allowed, - the rules are shaped by the community so it's impossible to tell about the future. If you think it might be banned in the future then i still wouldn't worry too much about it since old speedruns that break future rules are basically always grandfathered in to the leaderboards :>

cause no one has requested it and it hasn't been speedran, there used to be a category where you would do Splatoon 1, Splatoon 2 and Splatoon 3 but not the DLCs, but noone wanted to speedrun it so it's got removed from the leaderboards-
Side Order Levels have been added: but only the ones in the First Climb, and the two bosses you can access from the Foyer.
These are the only levels (ILs) that do not have any major major RNG in it - we could add the rest of the levels but those are just a mess to speedrun, they would eventually end up with people using saved seeds to get the perfect palette to try to speedrun a single level, which is just such a big time-commitment for a single IL (like hours of preparation just to start attempting an IL) which is gonna end up in there being no activity for the ILs since there's a total of around 90 ILs. - those levels should probably also be split into 12 weapon/palette subcategories for the weapon you're using, which would 12x the number of level leaderboards which i think would make the entire level leaderboard be a wasteland, since it creates over 1000 level leaderboards to compete for...

I'm all for including online speedruns, but for any category to be made we'd like someone to have atleast speedran it first - so if you have a specific ruleset in mind; speedrun it or try to get someone else to speedrun it and let us know of the speedrun rules - either post the category ideas here, or in the splatoon speedrunning discord, or in the category idea form: https://forms.gle/Pj9VqipFHoexxRBr7, or contact a leaderboard moderator
EpicYoshiMaster has made a lot of those, like a Heart or Loss but we already have sus% - if a lot of speedrunners want more variety in the "Create artwork inside the palette" speedruns then we're down to add other goals like the heart, loss or this^
using a mouse to turn a control stick or gyro/motion controls is allowed for emulator runs
dying is not against any rules, you're welcome to upload runs with mistakes in them
Feel free to use mouse and keyboard to play Splatoon 1 on emulator - and you don't have to show the keybinds. but feel free to show the keybinds before or after a run if you want to
Emulator is now allowed for all categories, including individual levels
