I'm not very good at RaceOff, I've learned... but I still have some tips ;-;
If most of these are common knowledge, then, well... I don't even know what to say!
- All vehicles are front wheel drive (or at least from what I've learned)
Here's the point: Try driving with your back wheels, and it will be slower than driving with your fronts. If you use this to your advantage, well, you can shave off a few seconds each course. I almost always use this even if it isn't noticeable ;-;
You can also kind of use this in a different way to get more speed/more upward velocity, here's how:
/ <- aiming in a direction like this relative to the track makes you 1. gain more forward velocity and 2. gain more upward angular velocity. This is great for bashing down door-drops (official filename for those boom boom kabadaboomby smash! gates in Heavy Duty), but can also be used for the extra speed itself. Remember, this is relative to the track!
\ <- aiming like this relative to the track will do the opposite, giving you more upward velocity instead. Sadly, though, doing this makes you lose almost all momentum, so it can't be used for jumping switchback sections. :(
- Pick a good vehicle! Here's a good list of vehicles to use in each level (Please refer to BlackMagic for a list of good vehicles per level) Set 1 --- A
Rip Rod: bad
Dawgzilla: bad
Dune it Up: good for segments where you really need that balance, but otherwise bad
Mountain Mauler: good for segments that have a lot of rock climbing, as it has speed similar to Baja Bone Shaker, but about quadruple the stability. Baja Bone Shaker: very fast, but very bouncy. Good for the smooth track sections. Set 2 --- B Cruise Bruiser: bad HW Poppa Wheelie: bad, but you can slam the ground to get some extra speed with it so that's a neat gimmick Spectyte: bad RD02: good in levels that need more speed and precision than a bulky vehicle like DB can get. Dragon Blaster: really good in levels that have a somewhat simple layout. Very bad in levels that need fast ascension early on. Set 3 --- C Night Shifter: absolutely horrendous Bullet Proof: bad Muscle Speeder: great on levels that need you to get as precise as possible, like level 26.
D-Muscle: bad Rodger Dodger: good on levels that have simple terrain Set 4 --- D Scorpedo: bad Growler: bad Ratical Racer: i don't use this vehicle enough to know ;-; (tbd) Street Creeper: really good for knocking/dodging wrecking balls, and has a very similar body to Muscle Speeder, only slower Shark Bite: bad, unless you really need that bulk and suspension. Use Street Creeper for most gameplay instead Set 5 --- E Rig Heat: inexcusably bad Off Duty: great at levels that have a high obstacle count, as it is both strong and flexible The Haulinator: great if you need to smash things, as it is very, very strong, and can insta-destroy a door-drop Repo Duty: bad Rig Storm: good in levels Off Duty isn't great at
Set 6 --- F Two Timer: bad, unless you need to run over a bunch of red pipes, as it's tail is capable of blocking explosions apparently Nerve Hammer: bad, except for in some cases Velocita: meh Speed Slayer: good for when you need a bulky body, which is almost never. 24 Ours: best vehicle in the entire set!
- Stop moving for extra air time Since vehicles have ground torque as well as mid-air torque, moving will modify your airtime. Try to avoid moving if you want to keep a high amount of air time, though if you need to tilt, try to minimize your use of the brakes, as they pull you downward. :P
So yeah, that's all my tips! Might add more some other day, but I'm trying to learn to speedrun the game, soo... ;-;
