New Game+ means starting on a Hero Mode file that carries over bugs and treasures from the normal mode playthrough. New Game means starting from a New Adventure file, where (after your first completed playthrough) the game allows you to choose Normal Mode or Hero Mode at the start, but will start with 0 bugs+treasures.
