since this game has an active mod now, i have some suggestions for the board
-
why are emulators banned? proton is officially supported by eduweb, mainly for use on steam deck but for linux play as well, and there aren't any compatibility issues
-
whoever submitted this game forgot the colon in "WolfQuest: Anniversary Edition", i think you have to send in a support ticket to get that changed tho
-
i understand not being allowed to name your wolves slurs or something, that's against site rules, but a full swearing ban? i haven't seen anything like it on this site. just because the game is for all ages doesn't mean that you shouldn't be able to swear. even in the larger games made for all ages (mario, spongebob, disney) there isn't a rule against swearing.
-
the category names should start with a capital letter to fit with the rest of the website (imo)
-
the game isn't a prerelease or a secondary game anymore, it's a full game. this is another thing you'd have to write a support ticket on, though
-
can we get a full life category? time would end on death as an elder wolf
-
can also we get a lone wolf category? i think it'd end on your 4th birthday or maybe when you die as an elder wolf for a full life, and it'd turn the game into more of a hunger management simulator
found some skips that i haven't seen used in the any% run or the TAS thats linked on this thread
sorry for sucking at the game btw i have like 4 hours of playtime in this and i havent even started on the 4th level yet
mainly reposting here in the hopes of getting hsblue's attention as he hasn't responded in the thread and foks has been busy for the last 3 months
summary of updated thing, title is inaccurate:
version split between disc 1.0 (for consoles, most major glitches are exclusive to that version), 0.23.2-1.0.6 (PC versions that are currently inaccessible on consoles as there's no way to downpatch to a specific version, this version also has slop tech), and v1.0.10+, which has awful input handling and different platforming physics for both any% and 100%
moving all unrestricted runs to the 0.23.2-1.0.6 category. while technically a completely different run, infinite stacking wasn't discovered until later which is actually faster than what unrestricted was
splitting NG+ between disc 1.0 and 0.23.2-1.0.6 due to infinite stacking (NG+ on current hasn't been tested)
splitting 100% between disc/cart base game, 0.23.2-1.0.10A, v1.0.10B, and v1.0.10C, which requires actually 100%ing these versions of the game
the runs are very easy to tell apart from the UI
disc 1.0 has LB (or the equivalent) binded to the games menu
0.23.2-1.0.6 has Y (or the equivalent) binded to the games menu
v1.0.10+ is a rectangle

here's my glitch hunting playlist, i know some of these are beneficial to the speedrun (like the thomas plot warp and quest duplication) but some aren't (fenra in main prison, i'd doubt it could be beneficial because it'd be slow to walk to the bridge)

i also think there should be a rule against transferring quests from another save made outside of the run, like the poopy pendant quest from a prior save to the new save created for the run. i believe transferring between recalls is fine, because it creates a larger gap of tech in the modes that don't allow recall
there are also a few things that i don't have in there, but you can reroll the loot in cafeteria bins by loading the auto save for lunch, this works differently from loading a recall at lunch for some reason
does mate% technically count as a pre-SC / LRC any% category? versions before slough creek was released ended on completing the mate trial, effectively beating the game (and LRC ends at completing mate trial as well)
Like any%, but no death abusing allowed.
this is what i think the run would look like:
when it says "Closing and opening the game mid-run is banned", does that mean closing the whole game (via switch home screen >> close software or pressing the exit button in windows) or does it ban going to the main menu and continuing the save file? or both?
Is F3 allowed for IL runs? Like for JEVIL so you don't have to constantly reload a save/Don't have to grind for him
Is changing where save files are located okay? As in going in UMT, and changing the UMT data.win thing in "General Info" to read off of ______.exe and changing SURVEY_PROGRAM to ______.exe? It doesn't really do anything besides change where the files are located.
When I do what is said in the category rules, It just softlocks me. Not crashes. Are there any other ways of crashing?
