When the individual levels leaderboard was first set up, it was decided that keeping separate categories for powerup runs and no powerup runs would be somewhat pointless, in part because many levels are barely any different with powerups, but also because no one was actively running ILs anyway at the time.
However, things have changed. ILs are looking more competitive than ever (even if it's largely only one runner for now), and with some imminent full game activity, it was decided that having a category to keep track of IL times that could realistically be achieved in any full game run was something valuable for the community.
Thus, the IL leaderboard now has a new subcategory variable, with two possible values:
Any%
Beat the stage as fast as possible. Powerup usage is allowed and encouraged (though not mandatory), including changing to a different powerup in the middle of a stage if you get it from a random drop. However, activating a powerup using the IL practice mod after the stage has already started will remain forbidden.
No powerups
Beat the stage as fast as possible without using powerups. Picking up a powerup from a random drop is allowed only if it is the last item collected in the stage.
