XBOX 360 Time Saves

Exact hole for hole optimizations vary course to course but there are a few universal time saves that can save seconds or even minutes here and there:

1. This goes without saying, but generally the less shots taken per hole = faster time. It may be worth taking an extra second or two to aim your approach if you think you can avoid having to put.

2. Prepare each hole beforehand. If you have to adjust the aim of your drive, make a note of it so you can start rotating the second the hole loads rather than going into the 'B' menu and manually aiming your shot. The only shots you should spend time aiming are your approaches in order to set yourself up for a tap-in.

3. On shots where no adjustment is necessary, start your backswing before the hole loads (this is particularly useful for straight-forward puts or tap-ins that don't need to be aimed). That way, by the time you load in, you'll already be ready for your follow-through.

4. Try to avoid hitting perfect drives or drives with power >= 100. Most of the time the game will give these shots special slow-motion animations that will lose you several seconds. That being said, if hitting a 120-power shot can get you to the green and putting in fewer shots, the power boost may be worth it.

5. Putting backspin on your drives causes the ball to come to a stop sooner, saving you a few seconds each hole.

6. On some longer par 5s where water is present (e.g. Bay Hill hole 6), repeatedly hitting the ball into the water the second you load in until your shot limit is exceeded can possibly save you several seconds over actually playing the hole.
