im not a runner so i dont have like "authority" to say this but i'm sure ctegory extensions for tbcte could be pretty fun. i dont know of may ideas for them but stuff like death/damage%, sword%, tripless could be some. there could even be some wackier ones like bald% or sm. could this be an intersting idea?

Yeah, I was wondering if any CEs would ever be made but I did suggest adding "All Main Categories" as one to be added if CEs become a thing for this game

Typically, you create a CE board for a game when you have a run that wouldn't necessarily go on the main leaderboard, not the other way around.

My idea is minimum kills, so like you can only kill the bosses, and I guess the deer, the thing that took the kid, and the IRS, you cant kill anything else.

There are multiple times in the run where you actively need to kill the enemies to pass through, like the 2nd barn room. Many others where you can completely avoid it that said, I will say some places killing is not technically mandatory but doing without is damn hard, like the room before Liz.

I think strategy building for such a category could be very interesting but I'm not sure how much the interest it would actually have as something to run. It's a category where it feels like the puzzle is more interesting than the speed of it. (like trying to beat the game blindfolded)

This has more potential than stuff like Bald% that are "Run the game like any% until X then collect an item and do this specific quest. Not sure if this will ever make it to the leaderboards but the routing at least would be something I'd be interested in following if you want to try and push the idea (I'd also recommend joining the discord if you are the platform, the people who can actually change stuff are more present there, and it's easier to gauge interest there as well.

I have not routed a minimum kills run, but I have routed a "minimum use inputs" run, which is also a minimum kills run by default.

("Minimum use inputs" meaning least sword, watering can and potted petalportal uses.)

The minimum use inputs to beat the game is 128.

I'm surprised as there's no 'limitless line (most) kill count' leaderboard? could this be a new category or no?

It's interesting in it's own way, but if it's a high score run, it isn't a speedrun leaderboard.
