-the numbers in the black tiles are the x/y values measured in pixels(?). 
-the numbers on the outside border are the chances (out of 32) that a given x/y coordinate will be selected. for example, on the x-axis the 124 column will be selected 3 out of 32 times, while the 132 will be 4 out of 32 times.
-inside the grid, the x-axis chances and y-axis chances are multiplied together to get the chances(out of 1024) that a certain spot will have an item drop. for example, the 132 column is 4/32, the 132 row is 3/32, multiply together to get a 12/1024 chance that the 132,132 spot will be selected for an item drop.
-the color coding shows how the probability is distributed around the map (B&W version below if you are color blind). Red is for squares with 12/1024 chance, oranges are 9 or 8/1024, yellows are 6/1024, greens are 4/1024, blues are 3/1024, purples are 2/1024, whites are 1/1024.

Purely in terms of left side of the screen vs right side of the screen, the overall chances of an item drop are equal. but when you break it down into columns, the numbers on the right are a little more condensed to the left and the numbers on the left or more spread out to the left. this is a slight DISadvantage for player 2 since they are more likely to have to travel farther away from the door to collect a drop.

Drop Table - location and items

Please note that the item and location columns are not tied to each other. Upon the game landing on which drop it will take, it will then advance to the next row for the location. As well, other things can happen in that time which will push the location selection further.

As this builds they will become separated further and further - so just because the location is next to the drop does not mean that it will fall in that location, or anywhere near it as the game moves on.

The table will loop per room - so when it reaches the end of the list, it will loop back to the top of the list.

Exploits, Manipulations, and Glitches

**Shield Manipulation**
Press start until you reach the high score screen and wait for the demo to start. 

Player 1 Spot
Press and hold start once the screen fades to black after the demo selects 2 Player. This will manipulate your first item to be a razor shield right above you. You have until the first GO! to press start, so if you miss it during the fadeout, you have plenty of time.

Player 2 Spot
Instead of holding start as the screen fades to black - wait and press start on the 6th GO! This will place a razor shield right next to the right door.

**Arena 1: Initial Enemy Spawn Manipulation**
If you are quick enough to kill all on screen enemies before the next enemy spawn, this will force the next set of enemies to come out of the top door in abundance. If you do this too slow the enemies will be more scattered coming out of all 4 doors in less density. An easy way to do this is in one fluid movement, go up to grab your shield, while firing right, and then immediately move right while firing down/left to kill the last guy, and using your shield to kill the first couple enemies that spawn from the right door. At that point you can start firing at the top door while covering the right door with the razor shield. This is by no means needed to achieve top times - but may be easier for some people to control.

**GoveRazor**
***DO NOT DO THIS - it will soft lock the game on the next room.***
Extremely situational, but it has been found that if you can collect a razor shield as you are leaving a room, and if the drop is close enough to the door that the room transition takes hold, you can carry a razor shield through to the next room.

This will ultimately soft lock the game as the next room wont know that you have a razor shield. When it is gone the game will still prevent you from getting close to a wall, which in turn will prevent you from getting to the door to trigger the next room.

**The following glitches are specific to Mutoid Man and the Evil M.C. - For detailed information about the hitboxes and weak spots, please see the guide specifically on Mutoid Man.**

**Spreader Glitch**
During Mutoid Man, you can jab the end of a spreader inside the top 60-85% of the left or right hand side of the boss’ sprite. This will cause the sprites and hit boxes of the weapon and boss to overlap. By firing the weapon within this range, and overlapping, you can deal up to 8x damage. When utilized properly you can do 2 form changes, possibly even 3 if you are already at the tail end of one. This damage can be applied all the way up until the final transformation has completed. A good indicator is the audio “NO WAY!” and the appearance of only the final sprite in which the damage will no longer be multiplied by the sprite/hitbox overlap. At this point there is no further way to deal extra damage, but please note that the final form will take extra damage until that point - this is known as transfer damage.

A common practice is to take an intentional death upon sight of a spreader within your half of the room so you can come back with an invulnerability and grab the spreader, making the action of overlapping much easier to do without dying, since your hitbox will have to be within a few pixels of the boss’ hitbox. An easy way to know if you are dealing multiplied damage is that you will not see your blasts come out of the boss like usual. It are these blast sprites that are causing the glitch and doing the extra damage, so if you see the blasts firing out of the boss - it’s not taking the extra damage. 

Also note that you can glitch through/inside Mutoid Man. When you are "inside" Mutoid Man, the damage can be increased even further if you hit a very specific spot, otherwise normal glitch damage will happen.

**Lobber Damage Exploit**
You can multiply your damage with Lobbers against Mutoid Man by hitting areas where objects overlap - not specifically hit boxes. If you hit the shaded region between the brown patch under his chin, and the red dot on his belly, you can get up to 5x damage.

**Ball Buster (Orb Damage on Mutoid Man)**
The orb can be used to deal a 1 time hit that can cause ~40% damage to the current form of Mutoid Man. You will need to line up where your orb will impact right where the hitboxes meet (like where an arm meets the body). If this is successful you should notice that the orb does not fly out of Mutoid Man, and that he will vibrate as if he got hit by something. You will know it was effective because your next form change should either occur due to the impact, or shortly there after.

This will work on all forms other than the final.

Frame Counting How-To

At this time we only require frame counting on EASY% runs that are 5:59.999 and below.

This game's timer starts with an audio cue, not a visual cue. To make things easier I am providing this guide on how to measure your run time easily.

We use the most commonly used software, avidemux, which can be obtained for free here: http://avidemux.sourceforge.net/

You will notice shortly after you press start (and start the timer), the player select screen will start to fade. We will use this fade as a visual cue to make things easier.

For the starting frame, we will mark the very first frame that shows any sign of fade on the player select screen as frame A.

For the final frame, we will mark the very first frame of the fade out that is solid black as frame B. Please note you may see some of the center red triangles after the fade out, this is normal, just look for the image to stop fading as a whole.

Take the time from this marked segment (in the bottom right) and add 0:00.533 second. This accounts for the time between start press and the frame prior to the first frame that starts to fade the character select screen.

The sum of those 2 times will give you your run time total.

Example
5:58.000 is the marked time
0:00.533 is the added time
5:58.533 is the sum total of the run.

How to configure splits to show accurate WR

Edit Splits > Set the Category, In the Additional Info Tab > Set the correct Region, Platform, and Players

Edit Layout > World Record > Filter Leaderboard By > Check off Variables, leave the others blank.

This should now display the correct WR information depending on the category and players you have set.

US/JP Differences

In the JP version, Mutoid Man & MC do not shoot constant lasers, and on some forms do not shoot lasers at all.

We recommend initially learning on the US version. This will get you used to the behavior and patterns of him shooting lasers giving you the oppurtunity to properly learn to "laser dance" with Mutoid Man.

We then recommend actually doing runs on the JP version, since you wont need to deal with the lasers the entire fight, but are now equipped to predict the patterns in the event that he randomly shoots them.
