A Painfully In Depth Dive Into SoR Speedrunning, Tips Tricks and Judgement!

V 1

---------------------------------------

---------------------------------------

INTRO

---------------------------------------

Running SoR is fast and easy as even a casual game is far less than an hour on a moderate pace

However just running through the game with your favourite character is often not enough

I picked up a few tricks that all have saved time, and went through and decided what traits are better for runs than others

---------------------------------------

---------------------------------------

TRICKS

---------------------------------------

For getting speed nothing quite works as well as status effect "fast" that is gained through sugar and needles that have it.

however, finding either is quite rare due to the massive item pool and drop rates of each

Thus, the second-best method is damage boosting

「Damage boosting」

「Difficulty: Simple」

Damage boosting simply is taking any damage to your back

the higher the impact the faster you are launched in the direction you are travelling

beware, this obviously hurts your character so use it only when you can with little repercussion.

「Pre-Actions」

「Difficulty: Very Simple」

Pre-actions are done by spamming a single key during the loading sequence causing it to do that thing on the first possible frame

this may seem trivial, but it can save a second and your life

when playing the assassin i spawned right in front of a cannibal house, had I not pre-actioned cloaked they would have seen me and that would slow my run.

This trick works better in seeds as you know what action to take as its always the same

「Strategic Failure」

「Difficulty: Depends on the quest really」

Usually when faced with a task in SoR the question should be "How can I get this out of my way as soon as possible?" and usually the answer is failure

Most quests can be failed if you try hard enough but only 3 give any speed

Free the slave, press the buttons (timed), and rescue person.

Free the slave? Just kill him, faster than killing all the slave masters or buying him if you can kill him in a single blow.

Press the button timed? Go to do it first then complete the rest of the quests until the timer runs out

Rescue person? Get them to hate you by beating them up, then run off to the next quest.

------------------------------------------

CHARACTER RANKING

------------------------------------------

Quick note, any character that is not 4/4 speed is not viable and will not be covered, although should it be asked for...I'll try running all the characters.

「Ranks: A,B,C,D」

Thief

The thief is the second strongest stealth class and does great behind enemy lines, if you have time to kill.

Because moving in the box allows you to be seen, this encourages a slower game play. Also, the Thief falls flat in combat and his only really good thing he gets is the wall by passer, and that's a random drop anyways. Also, the 1/4 to endurance is not helping his case.

C

Gorilla

The Gorilla is among the best melee classes rivalled only by zombie based on number you can have alone.

The Gorilla is great for fast movement and faster kills making a highly viable class if you are good at the melee combat

lack of ranged does cripple the class however and makes him slightly less effective

B+

Vampire

Always ready for a quick bite to eat and able to pass through cameras with ease, what's not to love?

This class has almost no bad traits, and even the one that is there is not hard to work around just eat people to get health.

His cologne is also great to quickly gain allies in a pinch.

A

Assassin

Insta kills, super-fast speed, wide array of starting weapons, and frankly the best stealth class. What's not to love! The low health and melee skill. But most kills you get should be instant with the invisibility and backstabber trait, so you won't notice it much at all. This class is the best stealth class and can complete objectives the fastest due to his insta kill. However, this class is very punishing as bumping enemies and missing backstabs will make you visible, make every movement count. All in all kind of like the thief but can also kill things.

A+

Shapechanger

The technically fast but practically slow class, the shapechanger is 4/4 speed but due to the wanted trait you will almost never be the shapechanger that means you won't be using your speed. Also completing objectives takes longer due having taken the time to possess the NPC but when you do its super easy, so it's a balance. If you can pull it off, you won't have a hard run as far as difficult goes.

B-

Custom

Any trait you want, anything you want to give the class, whatever you want in a character. This is the best choice but can only be ran in the Custom category so keep that in mind before you enter the run.

A++

(More on Custom Characters later)

RANKING TRAITS

That's right I'm ranking them all, and it took as long as it sounds.

When new traits are added I'll do my best to keep up

---------------------------------------

MAKING CUSTOM CHARACTERS

---------------------------------------

When making a custom character

There are a few things to remember

Speed is king! If it gives you speed, TAKE IT

With a pool of 20 points you must assign a few traits

Cross reference the trait list and choose a few whiles taking some essentials

always have 4/4 speed

---------------------------------------

CO-OP

---------------------------------------

Because this is made from my own experience, I haven't really done this yet....

so, uh until then assume I said something insightful!

General speedrun tips

Preparing is very important in speedrun
Seed:
You don't have to use one, but if you do you can replay the exact same run again, try to find a good one!
note: seed affects missions type, rewards, and level layout. Level ups are seemingly random (may change, true in alpha 63)

Characters:
Assassin: Can one shot people, and go invisible for a short period of time. He also has 4/4 speed
Tip: You can teleport to your big quest objective to save time
Gorilla: Is very strong
Tip: With a charged attack and a weapon you can break windows and wood walls. A sledgehammer and a charged attack allow you to break brick walls.
Werewolf: Very weak and slow, but if you can reach the elevator while in werewolf form you won't suffer the crazy dizzy.
Tip: His right click attack requires no charging and propels you forward very fast.
You can create a custom character too, but you will need to specify it when uploading the run

Map:
ABUSE the map, plan carefully, time is stopped when looking at the map (except in multiplayer)
Look at the rewards, missions type and where they are placed. With enough knowledge you'll be able to recognize buildings from the map, allowing for better planning.
You can also just pause to think how to get out of a complicated situation, just be careful, it takes a few milliseconds for the map to open and close

Missions :
You don't have to do every mission, failing can save more time.
Rescue: It is painfully slow, killing or angering the person you need to rescue is often better. Use rocks/guns to shoot through a window/iron bars if possible (this will anger them, but they won't count as a danger for teleporting)
Buttons: There are buttons slightly more yellow than the others, it takes 20 seconds to fail so start with them if you plan to fail this mission.
Note: if the reward will save you more time, it might still be worth to get through the mission,

Level up:
With enough exp you will level up, you might get some very nice upgrade for the run
If you can get more speed, do it, it should be obvious why.
-teleports trait like teleport happy and gpyess are very valuable too.
-Friend of the common folk is good to slow down your enemies, get out of danger and teleport.
-Random reverence can allow you to complete missions by just asking someone.
-I'm outtie is nice but very dangerous.
-Blaster survivor can allow for some nice escpae if you need to break a generator

SOR Pacifist% Guide

Hello! I'm Derpu. I'll be talking to you about Pacifist% today.

First off- you cant kill someone in a way which would trigger a kill machine (kill healthinizer, kill ammunizer, kill profiter)
the only two ways (as of Alpha 60F) is to use a Haterator (or hack a cop bot as hacker) or order someone aligned to you to fight (neither the person(s) aligned to you or their target's deaths will count against you). However, you can HURT people as long as you dont deal the killing blow. With that in mind, it's not a good idea to choose a class centered around KILLING people. Putting them to sleep is fine. One thing to note is that you can't (as far as i know) put robots to sleep, so watch out for Cop Bots.

Doctor seems like a pretty viable class for Pacifist%, as they start with tranq gun which can take out a enemy silently and nonlethally, and has a ability to 1-shot sleep someone they sneak up on that recharges in moments. You can use a tazer + chloroform combo to take out enemies, but the tazer takes longer than the hankie to recharge. You can use leaf blowers, which can push people away (and possibly through walls, opening paths). Three important things to take note about doctor- He cant use any lethal weapons (Banana peels, shotguns, etc), he cant chloroform hankie people wearing a Gas Mask, and he can use his fists.

That's all I have to say for now, and I hope you have fun speedrunning this game!

Speedruning in streets of rouge (2018)

To speed run streets of rouge you should to the following.
1.Run starts at character select (when you press E) and ends at elevator on 5-3(when you press E)
2.So far the best character to speed run with is the assassin
3 This game has a lot of rng so your going to have to learn all of the types of missions that can happen in a run
4. Try whats good for you and only then you will be able to get a woldrecord

Very cool tips that I learn very cool :)

You can use teleportation to get to stuff quicker. You basically teleport to shops, drug dealers, etc. in the direction of the mission you want to get to, it will save time.
Also if you doin a pacifist run you will probably want to get loneliness killer (since npcs killing dont count as you killing someone).
Playing as doctor during pacifist run or just during a regular run but you're probably doing pacifist if you're doctor, if you punch walls people look in that direction, so if somebody has their back against a wall just hit the wall to their left or right and then get behind them and chloroform.
