can anyone explain what happened here? Only thing l can think of is l was tapping L1/R1 in the screen transition out of boredom, maybe l activated some sort of cheat code or something?

It's happened a couple of times in my run, like sandman says it seems to happen at random? I've tried looking into it but to no avail.
