LTR

Thanks to the wonderful Labrys, we now have a tool to remove the hardware-dependent loading screens from final times. Because of this change, we can now make every category's main time LRT. A couple notes:

  • As the tool is new, there is some variation in the loading screen detection. If you feel for any reason that a calculated LRT is off, please reach out to the moderation team.
  • ADS, ANS, and ILs will still be calculated only with the in-game-timer. However, these times will still be listed under LRT. This is because SRC has no option to change the default timing method per-category, so every category's leaderboard is sorted with LRT.
  • Runs that no longer have videos will have their RTA times as their LRT times.
  • With this new tool, it will be possible to use LRT to pause the timer during loading in Any% and 100% runs with livesplit!

For reference, Colton's most recent Any% run has 11 minutes of time in the loading screen, while Speck's world record is around 9 minutes! That's unfair, and we finally have a solution! I have applied LRT timing to all runs currently on the leaderboard. If someone wants to request a different run to be retimed if they can't / don't want to do it by themselves, reach out to us on the discord!

New Variables

Alongside this, new variables have been added to categories. These include:

  • Region: The region the game was played on. Applies to all submissions.
  • Load Type: The hardware interface the game was loaded from. Applies to all main categories.
  • Cutscenes: As we have special versions of the game with all the skippable cutscenes replaced with a brief black screen, this indicates whether the loads were removed or not. Only necessary to fill on Any% and 100%.

I have gone through every run and applied these variables retroactively for y'all. I could have made some mistakes, so let me know if you catch one.

Emulator Rule Updates

This was done awhile back, but new emulator full runs had been banned and the emulator rules for new submissions were expanded substantially. Old emulator runs have been grandfathered in and are safe. I personally am not too keen on the exact technical reasons behind them, but the summary is that we've found a discrepancy between how Daytime Sonic performs between console and emulator. Now, we are introducing a new clause that emulator runs above certain time thresholds will still be accepted:

  • Any% - 2:35:00
  • 100% - 4:45
  • ADS - 18:30 (IGT)
  • ANS - 47:30 (IGT)

These thresholds are flexible, with their main goal at keeping the top-times fair and competitive while also giving the greatest accessibility for new runners. As always, alongside the new guidelines and thresholds, mods withhold the final judgement to dealing with each emulator run on a case-by-case basis. We truly do try to make the best case for each run if there are issues.

With all of these changes, please take the time to go ahead and re-read any relevant game rules for the categories you play. Then check out the sick new look of the leaderboards!

A friendly reminder to read all of the rules before submitting. :D
