After a month of research, documentation, and survey, the community has decided to whitelist a fix for Wonky Driving within the speedrun. There were 28 responses to the survey put out last week, in which 20 runners who responded were in favor of the fix, while 8 were against. After reading through all the responses, the consensus was that the hardware dependent nature of the glitch along with its ability to give runners an unfair advantage at high levels were too significant to ignore. It has been argued based on the evidence collected that runners shouldn't be given an advantage because of older hardware, as the primary cause of wonky driving is the difference of how Windows handles uninitialized memory between Windows XP and later versions. The way Windows handles uninitialized memory has been found to only be more unpredictable as more modern versions have come out, only creating more variability among runners.

With that being said, here is the hack which will be allowed in the speedrun. What this file (courtesy of Proddy) does once enabled in the mod launcher is enables parts of the Bug Fixes hack but ONLY the configurable fix for Wonky Driving, as well as the Late Focus Fix which prevents the game from crashing on start up. Though not officially whitelisted, this is a fix runners have been using for a while now. Since it's a bug which only affects game start up, the mod team sees no reason not to allow it as a quality of life improvement. After dragging this file into your mod launcher mods folder, it will show up under the Settings tab as "Speedrunning Bug Fixes"
