Hello, everyone.
With the release of the SANABI DLC confirmed, SNB is also considering revising some rules and categories. Please note that additional rule changes may be made.
- Planned Category Revisions
-
Removal of the Full Release category and migration of records to IL (Individual Levels)
-
Looking at other speedrun examples, there are no cases similar to SANABI. This category has existed for a long time without being revised, but I believe IL is a more appropriate format for it. Since this category has a lot of players, we plan to display IL before Full Game on the leaderboard. (Example: https://www.speedrun.com/pd2 )
-
Removal of the Controller category In other games, categories are divided by platform (PC, PS4, etc.), but I’ve never seen one separated by controller use. Even if such a category existed, unless there was a critical flaw when comparing controllers to keyboards, it’s more of a skill issue, so I don’t see why this category should exist.
Records will be moved to the Full Game/Speedrun Mode category.
-
Addition of a Misc. category, The Jumpless category will be moved to Misc. because not many players run it, and for the sake of leaderboard organization.
-
Leaderboard categories will be simplified to: Full Game, Speedrun Mode, and Misc. Records will be standardized to either IGT or RTA only.
- Planned Full Game Rule Adjustments
- Currently, the Full Game rules state: "start timing when you’re first able to move, and end it when the credits roll." However, I’ve noticed some runs do not follow this rule. I plan to revise existing records and clarify the rule. The correct timing should be: Normal Mode run, ending when the word "Sanabi" appears on screen and the screen fades to black (before the credits roll). For existing runs that do not follow this rule, I plan to add a penalty of about 4 minutes. (This penalty may be adjusted.)
- Planned IL (Individual Levels) Addition
- IL will use IGT instead of RTA. Categories will include each stage and selected content. Content that cannot use IGT will be placed in the Misc. category. Category naming will follow formats such as Any%, Stage 1–5, etc.
- Regarding the SANABI DLC
To manage things more smoothly, I am considering applying for a separate Sanabi DLC game page.
This is a long post, so thank you for reading carefully. Feedback is welcome. After the rules are finalized, I will post an announcement on the speedrun site and also in the official Discord speedrun category.
Since many SANABI rules are being revised, any existing runs without video evidence will be rejected.
- Sorry, The penalty was applied incorrectly, so I’m correcting it. A 16-minute penalty will be applied. (Full Game runs)
Hello everyone, for about 6 months the previous mod of this game was offline and not responding to/ accepting any runs. After a few days of talking with the people who run speedrun.com the previous mod has been removed and I have been added. This means a few things. Firstly, we are accepting run submissions again! Feel free to submit your runs, I check the site a couple of times a day so your runs should be verified/denied fairly quickly after being submitted.
Secondly, There is a new category and there have been changes to the sub categories. The new default category is Most recent release, which are runs that are done in the most recent version of the game, currently 1.0.18. Sub categories have also been changed, there are now two sub categories for every category, Speedrun mode and Full game (Any%). Speedrun mode simply requires you to select and play "speedrun mode" from the main menu, and Full game requires you to select the "new game" menu option, and complete a run that way.
Thirdly, Ca_milk, or 고칼슘우유 is currently helping me moderate. We are looking for a third moderator to help, so anyone who is interested in helping moderate can feel free to message me on discord at brain_soup#4200. Also, anyone who has any suggestions for sprites to replace the gold, silver and bronze trophies that indicate first, second and third place should message me :)
Lastly, any questions you have I'll be happy to answer, either message me on discord or on speedrun.com.
