Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 — Checkpoint Loader

Installation

1. Download the ZIP file and extract it anywhere on your PC. Make sure all the contents stay in the same folder: the checkpoint_loader_ch2.py file, the checkpoints folder, and Launch.bat.
2. Double-click Launch.bat to open the app. It will automatically search for Python on your PC, skipping any fake Python installations from the Microsoft Store.
3. If Python is not found, the launcher will ask you what you want to do. Type 1 and press Enter to install it automatically via winget. If the automatic installation fails for any reason, it will show you the manual steps instead. If you prefer to install it yourself, type 2 and press Enter — it will show you the instructions to download and install Python from python.org. Make sure to check "Add Python to PATH" during installation, then run Launch.bat again.
4. The first time you open it, check that the save folder path at the top of the window is correct. It should be AppData\Local\Playtime_Prototype4\Saved\SaveGames. If it is different on your PC, click the folder button and navigate to the correct one. This will be remembered for next time.

How to use it

5. Click any checkpoint from the left panel to select it. You can use the search bar to filter by name, scroll through the list with your mouse wheel, or use the arrow keys to navigate.
6. Click the LOAD CHECKPOINT button or press Enter. A confirmation message will appear at the bottom of the window.
7. Open Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 and it will start from the checkpoint you selected.

# How it works:

When the launcher starts, it scans your drives for Steam libraries and automatically detects installed chapters. You can launch any chapter directly or open the Versions menu to manage installs and download older patches.

If you download a preset, the launcher uses SteamCMD’s download_depot command to grab the exact version used by the speedrunning community, then automatically registers it inside the launcher.

Mainly made this to simplify version management for runs and make older patches easier to access.
