Hello everyone! With the release of the Nintendo Switch 2 imminent, we have added a new annotated variable to all of the Scarlet/Violet categories: the Console variable. This variable is used to denote whether your run was performed on the Switch 1 or on the Switch 2.

As we all know, Scarlet/Violet is receiving some performance upgrades on the Switch 2, very likely leading to an all around faster game. This new Console variable allows us to keep track of what console was used for each run, so that in the future we may split up Switch 1 vs Switch 2 into their own separate Subcategories if desired by the community.

At the moment, we do not know just how substantial these performance upgrades may be, or how much time they may save over runs done on the original Nintendo Switch. The discussion of how much time is saved, how much timesave warrants a split between the two consoles, etc. will be an ongoing one taking place within the Switch Pokémon Speedrunning Discord server. Regardless of the outcome, the leaderboards are now equipped to show which console was used and are equipped to be rearranged however we all see fit.
