It has been brought to my attention that FPS boosting of the HTML5 version isn't the only way to break Penguin Diner 1 and Penguin Diner 2.
Players can disable Vsync or adjust there monitor's refresh rate or both for an advantage in FPS.
My initial intention when I banned the use of FPS boosting was to keep the game at it's intended 60 FPS cap and keep an even playing field for everyone regardless of hardware or internet browser.
I will be keeping this stance going forward and the rules have been updated with the following:
- The HTML5 category is intended to be played at 60 FPS. During gameplay, the FPS counter must not exceed 60 FPS except for brief fluctuations caused by loading, tab switching, or other unavoidable browser behavior.
- Any method used to increase game speed beyond the intended 60 FPS is prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Browser FPS boosting features
- Disabling VSync if it causes the game to exceed 60 FPS
- Browser modifications, scripts, or extensions that increase FPS
- Any other method that results in gameplay above the intended 60 FPS limit
- Runs found to be using prohibited FPS-boosting methods will be rejected.
