I noticed that majority of the runs are running the PAL version of the game.
Is there a specific reason for this? Is it a faster version to run? Is Text Faster? Are there glitches/exploits that only exist in PAL?
I am curious as I plan to pick up a Wii U soon(tm) and this game is one I am very interested in running, and wanted to know if there any real difference or if a US copy would be similar/competitive for the boards?

I don't think there was really some research done on version difference. I guess runners mostly play the game version that match where they live.
However, regarding text, japanese and chinese version are usually faster in most games, so I guess this should be the case here as well (no idea by how much, tho)
i always played on the european version because that's the one i have lol.
Also i think that there is a glitch in the NA version that can make your game crash when you enter the last 2 towers if i remember correctly.
And yeah, the game community is so small, and mostly european, no one ever bothered to time text speed difference.

I appreciate the info. I finally got myself a Wii U and the game. Going to play it casually, so I can understand the controls better and also to get a save for NG+.

Hi there. Late to the party as always.
In my experience of testing I can say that the versions differences between the games will be minimal at best.
Text boxes can be mashed so language specific stuff like spelling of individual characters makes little difference here. Boss behaviour may differ between versions but that is mostly untested.
I was unaware of the Glitch in the NA version, but from my experience there is a difference between playing the virtual console version and disk version. Virtual Console does have an advantage compared to disk or running on original hardware, so if that option is available to you I recommend it.
Build and Item selection have the biggest difference in leaderboard viability. The build we use for WR runs is very grind heavy. My personal file has 68 in game hours, collecting all the items required. It's possible to do it faster if you know what you are aiming for.
Personally if the PAL version is an option to you. I would be happy to send my save data to anyone who wanted to run NG+ game. Which would save a lot of grind time. I don't know if the save data works between versions.

I am curious what the best loadout is for NG+ Like, what's the best loadout to have at the start, and what should it look like towards the end? and I assume the start of NG+'s loadout is what you have at the end of a NG
